Peter video bombing is just brill!!! Your kitchen/dining area looks lovely and yay for library cards and Waterstones. The big question: is the house wheelchair accessible? I suspect not from the look of the front street 🤔 xx
ReplyDeleteHe was acting funny because he things my photographing and video making gets out of hand. Anyway, it is a lovely flat, but not wheelchair accessible at all. I am very sorry about that. We rented this because some other professor family from our college had rented it before and they were happy here. It is also much close to our students' buildings. That was a huge draw. Last two times, Peter had a commute that was over an hour! Now it is down to 30 minutes. So, I am not sure what we can do about a get-together. Meet in a different town closer to your house? Kind of in the middle? Meet somewhere else in London? But that is also complicated.
DeleteP.S. We might be able to meet at the students' place on the ground floor. I could inquire about that.
DeleteYeah we were wondering about meeting somewhere outside of London maybe just over half way? Dave and I will have a think xx
ReplyDeleteYes, we can also look at our calendars to see what is possible.
DeleteIt's a nice little apartment. Peter is like Greg, who enjoys making faces in my movies. We're good documentarians! I love how Waterstones and Hatchard's lay out the wonderful classic children's books. I never tire of browsing through them and would have double and triple copies of different editions if I had the room! I also love riding the London buses. Didn't you visit Highgate cemetery the last time you were in London?
ReplyDeleteIt is much smaller than the other ones we have had, but much closer to the students, which is so helpful. Ha, that is true, Greg sometimes makes faces like that and I think Chanda does too. It is actually interesting that the bookstores here still show you classic children's books. When you go to Barnes and Nobles, you do not see that so much anymore. We walked a lot around in Highgate last time, but only peeked into the cemetery from the outside. There is a fee for entering it, I think there might be even two fees, one for the west side and one for the east side. I think there should be no fee to enter a cemetery . . .
DeleteP.S. Yay! I'm all caught up . . now to catch up with my own blog . .
ReplyDeleteWonderful! It is getting much harder to catch up on blogs these days, I wonder why.
DeleteI'm always so tired at night and just want to crawl into bed and read a book! No, there shouldn't be fees for cemeteries! At least the States don't charge for that :P Yes, I LOVE the children's classic books. Our local Barnes and Noble puts out more than our smaller bookstores as they have many classic editions, but certainly not as nice as in London.
DeleteYes, but when I try to read a book in bed, I fall asleep :). Oh, I guess you have a different reading audience in the city than Buffalo or Rochester. Our B&N are quite disappointing now.
DeleteYes, I often fall asleep with a book in my hands when crawling into bed . . :)
DeleteThat's sad about B & N being disappointing. It's always so nice to visit a bookstore one enjoys. There used to be one in Montauk that I loved and would always visit but then it closed. I miss it!
DeleteIt is also always quite dirty and not cleaned up, at least the branches up towards Buffalo and towards the Midwest. Really, in Montauk? I thought it would be too small to have one. Is there another bookstore now?
DeleteThere is another bookstore now, but it carries more popular fiction books that don't interest me as much.
DeleteAh, too bad.
