I am happy to report that our first week here at home went well with our studies.
Unsere erste Schulwoche hier zu Hause war sehr erfolgreich, was mich glücklich macht.

Veronika and I did some weeding today while Flora was at her violin lesson.
Veronika und ich haben Unkraut gejätet, während Flora Geigenstunde hatte.
It is quite convenient that Flora can walk to her violin lessons now: She just has to go to the music building on campus.
Es ist sehr praktisch, daß Flora zum Geigenunterricht gehen kann. Sie muß nur ins Musikgebäude beim College.
Veronika has done more driving and is driving to different towns now.
Veronika hat mehr Autofahren geübt und kann jetzt zu verschiedenen Dörfern fahren.

Das erinnert mich alles so an die Zeit, als meine Jungs noch zur Schule gegangen sind. Musikunterricht (Klavier), Basteln, Kuchen backen, Pizza machen, Bücher zu den Themen, die gerade durchgenommen wurden ... So schön.

DeleteDanke. Die ersten Tage waren schön. Gestern hat es vormittags geregnet, da waren wir im Museum. Im Moment nieselt es auch etwas. Aber das ist in Schweden um diese Jahreszeit zu erwarten.
DeleteAh, wo in Schweden? Als Kind war ich oft da. Ich habe auch sehr viele schwedische Verwandte. Sie wohnen in der Sundsvall Gegend.

DeleteDas Volvo Museum. Philips Vermieter hat da gearbeitet und wir fahren seit Jahrzehnten einen. Aber es gibt noch mehr hier, mal sehen, was wir noch besichtigen.
DeleteHa, da war ich noch nie! Meine Deutschprofessorin in Indiana fuhr auch einen Volvo. Das war ihrer Meinung nach das sicherste Auto. Viel Vergnügen bei weiteren Besichtigungen!
DeleteWird ja auch immer behauptet. Aber es stimmt schon, es sind sehr viele Sicherheitsvorkehrungen im Auto, und alle ohne Aufpreis, bei vielen Marken muss man da noch extra in die Tasche greifen, und sie sind schon vorher teurer.
DeleteOh, hier sind die Sicherheitsvorkehrungen alle mehr oder weniger gleich, aber wenn ich mehr Getränkehalter will oder geheizte Sitze, dann muß ich mehr zahlen.
DeleteJa, bei den deutschen Autos zahlst du für vieles Aufpreis, was bei anderen Herstellern einfach mit drin ist.

DeleteMuss man hier ja auch nicht. Man kann z.B. ein schwedisches, japanisches, französisches kaufen, ja, haben wir alle schon gehabt. Wesentlich billler als die deutschen.

ReplyDeleteAs usual! I did some soapstone work in school when growing up and I loved it! I think Veronika is also enjoying it and she is quite determined to get her license fast! I think she will be ready in the spring or early summer to take the test, but we still have to schedule that long five-hour-class. That is always so complicated around here!
DeleteOh my . . what a crazy ballet schedule. Do they have a sandwich before class, or after? I remember Chanda coming home late after ballet in the fall and winter, and having a light dinner together with Greg in the (very dark) evening time :) Good luck finding a time to fit the five hour class in, and good luck to Veronika when she tests.
DeletePizza . . and apple pie . . I don't cook or bake as often when it's just Greg and I. We eat very simply . . some chicken or fish with a vegetable or just veggies with rice, quinoa or potatoes. No fun homemade pizza, which I remember doing quite often!
I bake energy bars or a cake and they take that along before they leave. They get their supper around 8:30 to 9:00 p.m. Since we eat our main meal at lunch time, it is doable, but not fun. I am not sure when the new dates for that driving class are. You cannot take the class during the summer here and you have to drive at least for an hour for a spot in one of the fall/winter classes. Oh, I believe there is not much point in making big meals for two people. It has become a Friday tradition to make pizza here. It is a fairly new thing, just maybe two, three years old, but they are sad when I do not make it. Sometimes I am exhausted from a week of homeschool and college stuff and don't feel like cooking at night and then they get sad. Sometimes they make it then, though.

ReplyDeleteAh, thanks so much, San! The cat is going to be real cute, I think. The ballet schedule is for Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays. Only Wednesdays is off, but then Flora has art. Right now, there are no classes on Fridays, but they will start in October, I think. Ballet does not start until 5:00 p.m. or 6:00 p.m. and that means that it is dark by the time we leave. I hate driving in the dark with all the deer around here! Peter is doing the Monday drive most of the times and Charlotte is also driving when she has to teach. But when she has to teach, all girls have to leave by 3:00 p.m. and then Veronika and Flora have to work in the library there until it is their class turn. So it is all kind of complicated.

ReplyDeleteThe girls' classes are the last ones because they are the most advanced and that makes it quite late. Today, they were home at 9:00 p.m.! It would be impossible to do if we could not share the driving.
