Peter took Flora to our pediatrician this morning because she had "funny bumps" on her head. I turned out that her lymph nodes were swollen due to impetigo on her scalp. Now she is on antibiotics for ten days and has to use a special shampoo to help heal her skin. Veronika was so kind to walk Cooper for her (the pediatrician is kind of far away), but Flora was back to walk Hadley (our neighbor did not want to walk him in the snow). There was not much time to work on main lesson topics much, but we did finish a book on William Tell and she drew these pictures (below) to Wordsworth's poem. I reminded Flora that we took a boat ride on the lake that is mentioned in the story of William Tell.
Peter war heute morgen mit Flora beim Kinderarzt, weil sie "eigenartige Knubbel" auf dem Kopf hatte. Diese Knubbel waren geschwollene Lymphdrüsen, die durch Impetigo auf der Kopfhaut sich gebildet hatten. Jetzt muß Flora 10 Tage Antibiotika nehmen und ein besonderes Haarwaschmittel benutzen. Da der Kinderarzt überhaupt nicht um die Ecke ist, ist Veronika mit Cooper spazieren gegangen. Doch Flora war wieder da, um mit Hadley zu gehen. Normalerweise geht sie nicht mit Hadley regelmäßig, aber sein Frauchen wollte nicht so gerne im Schnee mit ihm gehen und hatte Flora gebeten, ihn auszuführen. Wir hatten so nicht viel Zeit, Hauptepoche zu machen, doch haben wir es geschafft, ein Bilderbuch über Wilhelm Tell zu Ende zu lesen und Flora hat auch Bilder zu einem Gedicht von Wordsworth gemalt. Ich habe Flora auch daran erinnert, daß wir auf "Wilhelm Tells See" schon mit dem Boot gefahren sind.

Veronika and I watched three German videos about the Celts in Germany. They were very interesting! We have finished "Beowulf." Below is the first video.

ReplyDeleteSie hat das schon seit einer Weile, aber da sie kein Fieber hatte, haben wir gedacht, es hätte etwas mit NF1 zu tun. Wir hatten schon selbst ein spezielles Haarwaschmittel gekaut und sie dachte, ihr Kopf würde besser, aber dann kamen die "Knubbel" und Schmerzen hinzu, und wir wußten, daß sie zum Arzt mußte. Wir hoffen jetzt, daß die Antibiotika wirklich alles schnell beseitigen werden.

ReplyDeleteShe just complained about those "bumps" and her itchy scalp. She has dry skin, so I was not so concerned about the scalp and just bought some different shampoos. But when the swelling behind her ear started and then more spots under her hair, we were getting concerned. She is relieved that those bumps have nothing to do with NF1, our first fear.
DeleteYes I thought you might be more than worried thank goodness it is a regular and treatable skin infection, hope Flora soon feels better xx
