Ich habe viele Briefe, Emails, E-Karten und Anrufe bekommen. Sogar alte Klassenkameradinnen haben an mich gedacht, einige stammen noch aus meiner Grundschulzeit in Müsen! Ich hoffe, bald an alle Schreiber ausführlicher zurückzuschreiben.
But you cannot just celebrate birthdays. So we went back to our regular routine on Monday.
Aber man kann ja nicht immer nur Geburtstag feiern, also ging es am Montag mit der normalen Schulroutine weiter.

And today was my turn to drive the girls to ballet. It did not snow, which was hard to believe.
Heute habe ich die Mädchen zum Ballett gefahren und es hat nicht geschneit! Das war fast unheimlich.
While waiting in the car, I graded Miriam's Biblical Greek.
Während ich im Auto gewartet habe, habe ich Miriams Bibelgriechisch korrigiert. Manchmal ist es schon gut, daß ich nicht nur das Große Latinum, sondern auch das Graecum gemacht habe.
After Greek, I graded Veronika's German. This is a hard book, but it is very good and detailed. It is written for German adult students to pass a certain exam. I have also used it with Jonathan. I found it in an educational bookstore in Vienna.
Nach Griechisch war dann Veronikas Deutsch dran. Dieses Buch ist eigentlich etwas zu schwer für dieses Alter, aber es ist sehr gut und detailliert. Jonathan hat es auch benutzt. Ich habe es in einer Schulbuchhandlung in Wien gefunden.
After ballet, we drove home, stopped at the grocery store, and ate supper at home. We had already visited the library on our way to ballet.
Nach dem Ballettunterricht sind wir nach Hause gefahren, haben kurz beim Lebensmittelladen angehalten und dann gab es zu Hause Abendessen. Wir hatten schon bei der Bücherei auf dem Hinweg zu Ballett angehalten.
For architecture tonight, Miriam and I watched a short documentary about Campus Galli. This is a highly interesting project!
Für unsere Architekturepoche haben Miriam und ich heute abend eine Dokumentation über Campus Galli gesehen. Das finde ich ganz spannend und interessant.
Liebe Eva, ich wünsche dir nachträglich alles Liebe zum Geburtstag und ein gesundes neues Lebensjahr! Gut siehst Du aus auf Deinem Geburtstagsfoto! Die Blumengeschenke sind ja so schön geworden, sieht richtig toll aus. Stell Dir vor, die gleiche Teekanne habe ich auch, nur in blau! Ich finde sie prima, ich würde sie nicht tauschen wollen. Ja, die Mädchen haben toll gemalt und sich Gedanken gemacht und Jonathan hat lange mit mir telefoniert und schickt mir auch noch was. Ich habe es schon gut. Mein Papa hat auch angerufen. Lustig, daß wir das die gleichen Teekannen haben. Sie liegt gut in der Hand, finde ich.

DeleteOh my goodness, Eva! I can't believe your birthday totally slipped by me this year! Happy Happy Day, dear friend. It looks like it was lovely. There are so many wonderful photos in this post, I don't know which to comment on first. The icicles look so pretty against the green of your house, and Veronika's Pollack painting and Flora's geometry are also colorful and beautiful . . also: your creek in its snowy frame, the flowery birthday cards . . handsome Julius . . and the photo of you, too - all so lovely. (And that teapot!)
ReplyDeleteOh, no problem, it is hard to keep track of birthdays sometimes :). Thanks so much for your greetings and good wishes and compliments. I packed a lot into this post -- maybe too much. The teapot came from Peter, an excellent choice :). Our white one was about to break apart and I thought it was too dangerous to keep using it. The spout was very wobbly.

ReplyDeleteIt was about to break off, so I thought we needed a new teapot. Yes, he looks so comfortable! I want to keep those peaceful pictures in my memory and not the way he looked on his last night and day.
