St. Michael

Just a small celebration for St. Michael today.  Since Charlotte was quite sick today and Jonathan and I still felt kind of weak, we just read some stories about St. Michael and made some dragon bread for supper.  We hope to be able to go to the Michaelmas celebration at the Waldorf school on Thursday!  We love to sing "Firmly on the Earth I Stand" with the whole school.  And we will still bake our traditional Michaelmas bread with the "angry dragon" as Flora likes to point out (she means the foaming yeast mixture).

Dragon spitting fire and lashing his tail so hard that the fork moved!
Der Drachen speit Feuer und schlägt mit seinem Schwanz so stark, daß die Gabel verrutscht ist!

Also talking about THE European pilgrimage site for St. Michael:
Wir haben auch über die Hauptpilgerstätte von St. Michael in Europa geredet:

  1. I hope you all are continuing to feel better! Hopefully you were able to rest some today even though you had teaching. The dragons all look fabulous! We plan on making some this week. Today we enjoyed cooked blackberries and cream:) Also, we have our scale out on our home altar (thank you for that idea a year or two ago!) Enjoy your Michaelmas celebration at the Waldorf school this week! I think we will do a few more activities and crafts to celebrate the rest of the week too. Blessings and love, Barbara

    1. Yes, I did rest, but not so much. I am feeling better now, just a small cough. I hope you had a wonderful week with St. Michael :).

  2. Hope you continue to make steady progress in your recovery. It sounds like you have all had a really awful virus :-(

    1. Yes, Charlotte is still coughing a lot, but she seems to be getting a bit better too.

  3. Ha ha, yes, definitely an angry dragon :) The bread looks delicious (do you add cheddar cheese?) and I love that Waldorf song site! Never saw it before. The Mont St. Michel movie is wonderful! Have you visited? I'm positive I've asked you that before :) but I can't remember your answer.

Continue to get rest. These temperature changes are not easy to get through.

    1. Yes, it is made with cheddar cheese. I found that site by accident. It is wonderful and also has German songs. No, I never made it to Mont St. Michel although I once spent several weeks really close by. My parents, two of my siblings and I were on vacation in the area. I only stayed for about two weeks with them, then I took the train to Switzerland to take a French class at the university. My parents later did visit the island, though. I would love to go one of theses days.

Today was so nice and warm, it made me very happy.
