Pillowcase/Kopfkissenbezug

Jonathan finished his pillowcase today and it wasn't very difficult.  His father was very impressed, he said it looked like a real pillowcase.

Miriam read Von Blume zu Blume  and Nachts am Berge (Peter William Butterblow) with Flora.  Here they are doing "Es zipfelt ein Röckchen."

We went to a talk on the Jesus prayer from the Eastern Orthodox church.  We also each received a prayer rope (chotki) for it.  The prayer is very simple: "Jesus Christ, Son of the living God, have mercy on me a sinner."  There are different versions of it, but they are quite similar.

Chotki

Last, but not least a picture from last night showing the moon, Venus, and very low, Jupiter.

  1. jonathan's pillow case is beautiful, and peter's comment is very funny (of course i do feel a little punchy. it's after one am and i've been up too late these past few nights). i missed the moon and venus and jupiter last night! but thank you for your picture. i think it may have been cloudy here. what website do you use for your astronomy information? maybe i should keep a link so i don't miss these things . .

love those pics of miriam and flora! so sweet!

and . . i awarded you a liebster award! because you are such an inspiration for me. i know . . with all the things we have to do these awards can be very tiring . . but i liked this one . . i like how it honors our efforts to connect with people and give hope to each other.

    1. Peter doesn't know anything about sewing or handwork. He kind of looked at it and said it has been sewn, right? I guess he thought Jonathan might have knitted it :).

I never get to bed early anymore. I haven't figured out how to change that, though. The only quiet time I get is after 9:00 p.m.

Sky: I like this site to stay informed. I'm signed up for their newsletter. They have also published an interesting book.

Thanks so much for the award and your kind words! I will take a look at it!

Good night to you, sweet dreams, and a hug back.

    1. Am besten mit einem Stück Stoff :). Danke für das dicke Lob. Jetzt will Jonathan sein Schwert zu Ende schnitzen, dann will er nochmal was nähen.

Habt Ihr Erika besucht?

  4. It looks like a real pillowcase-- ha! Good job, Johnathan! We are having fun sewing over here as well. And the sky was so marvelous last night I was wishing I had a camera with me.

    1. I guess Peter thought you couldn't do anything like that at home:). What are you sewing right now? I need to make a doll for Flora, but I never know when. She is the only one I haven't made a doll for.

I always have problems with taking pictures of the moon or stars. My camera is not good enough, but this time my stars are at least visible!

    2. I know what you mean. My camera isn't good enough either, but I keep trying. ;)

We are fixing dolls and making them new clothes, and Sunburst is sewing some other items. I have so many things on my list to repair or make... it is so hard to find the extra time, isn't it?!

    3. Yes, that's so true. My mother was hear last summer and finished all my mending. It had accumulated for several years. I was so thankful. However, my children now think that "Oma" has to come whenever something tears. They have lost all confidence in my mending capabilities.
