Unusual Blessing/Ungewöhnlicher Segen

My day of rest and lots of arnica really helped my poor head and nose.  I felt well enough to go to church (a rather quiet activity).  Our pastor is still in the hospital, but doing rehabilitation now.  So we decided to drive up to the hospital -- which would also give me another quiet day without cooking and other household work (the hospital is over an hour away).  Father was so happy to see us.  We had a brief conversation, which was very moving (and also sad because he is so weak).  At the end he gave us all his blessing!  What a great example of a priest to think of others even though he was the one that is in need of so much care right now.  I thought I was going to cry right there.  Please continue to keep him in your prayers.

  2. Such a lovely story and a touching display of his priestly vocation, being "Christ" to others.

Will continue to keep him and you in prayers.

    Hugs San xx

    Sybille

  4. Dorina, yes, it meant a lot to him. He first only saw Peter and was so happy to see him, but when he realized that we all had come, he greeted everybody individually and was so glad to see the children. He also noticed that Flora didn't know what to think of him in bed and he mentioned to Jonathan, his altar boy, jokingly "How the Mighty Have Fallen" (David's lament in the Bible after the death of Jonathan and Saul). He is a very special priest and is truly living his vocation to the fullest. He said it's hard for him to look at the sunshine because the sun blinded him during his accident and caused him to drive his car into the garbage truck. He is fully aware of his situation and only wishes to become strong again. Thank you so much for your prayers.

I'm feeling better, my head doesn't hurt anymore, just my neck is kind of stiff. Thanks for your kind words. Sleep is always a good remedy.

  5. Thank you, San. There was a rosary in church tonight for him, but Peter was gone so I couldn't go with the older children. Maybe next week. I do think about him a lot these days.
