Today is the German Unity Day. We used the date to sing the German national anthem. We also watched old news videos on YouTube to learn more about the fall of the Berlin Wall and the collapse of the East German government in general. You can find the music and words of the German national anthem here. There are also plenty of YouTube versions of the anthem. Some German worksheets about the anthem can be printed for free. They were written as a follow-up of the German TV-program "Das Lied der Deutschen," which now is only available on dvd. These worksheets work quite well without the program, though. If you are interested in more free German TV school programs, check out Planet Schule.
