Corpus Christi and Sunday Wildlife/Fronleichnam und Naturerlebnisse

Today Corpus Christi is celebrated in the United States, but there aren't many processions around here.  The pictures you see here are from Germany.  Corpus Christi was my favorite church holiday in Germany and I do miss a nice procession.  When I was a child we used to celebrate Mass in our church and then go through the village and the woods where several altars were set up.  There we would say prayers and sing.  Afterwards we came back to the church for one last hymn.

This afternoon I spent some time shortening the straps on the Charlotte's and Miriam's ballet costumes for their big day next Saturday.

The skirt is actually purple, but the camera turned it blue!/Der Rock ist eigentlich lila, aber mein Fotoapparat hat ihn blau gemacht.

We couldn't go outside very much because it was raining a lot.  Our cat ventured out, though, and found an Eastern Cottontail's nest.  He killed one tiny rabbit and brought us two.  They must have been less than a week old because their eyes were still closed.  Peter, my husband, took the rabbits to a lady in the county who takes care of injured or abandoned wild animals.  We are keeping our cat indoors tonight and hope that he won't bring us more rabbits tomorrow!

The children also spotted some cedar waxwings, which we don't get to see very often, in our backyard.

Unser religiöses Bilderbuch des Tages war heute Princess & the Kiss: A Story of God's Gift of Purity
