Errands and Assumption Vigil/Besorgungen und Mariä Himmelfahrt (Vorabendmesse)

We had a full day today.  We started out by driving two cars to the car repair shop: One was our car, which Peter was driving, and one was our friend's car, driven by me.  (It is good we have so many friends who are willing to help out with cars when we need one.  Yesterday, Peter borrowed a car from a different friend to drive a professor to the airport and pick up Jonathan at the airport.)  We dropped off our car at the shop (there was something hanging down from the bottom of the car, which was scraping the road while driving) and kept driving to the bank where we used the drive through tube to deposit a check.  The lady inside the bank asked if there were any children in the car who needed a lollipop and sent back three lollipops with the deposit slip.  I guess Jonathan and Charlotte thought they were too old for a lollipop.  Then we passed Tim Horton's.  

Heute haben wir viel unternommen.  Erst sind wir mit zwei Autos zur Autowerkstatt gefahren.  Peter hat unser Auto gefahren und ich das Auto von unserem Freund Chris.  (Es ist gut, daß wir so viele Freunde haben, die uns mal ein Auto leihen, wenn wir eins brauchen.  Gestern hat Peter sich ein Auto von einer anderen Familie ausgeliehen, um einen befreundeten Professor zum Flughafen zu fahren und um Jonathan dort abzuholen).  Wir haben unser Auto abgegeben (irgendetwas unter dem Auto hing so weit runter, daß es den Boden beim Fahren berührte) und sind mit dem anderen zur Bank gefahren. Per Rohrpost haben wir einen Scheck vom Auto aus in der Bank abgegeben und das Geld davon auf unser Konto einzahlen lassen.  Die Dame in der Bank hat gefragt, ob wir Kinder hätten, die einen Lutscher bräuchten und uns dann per Rohrpost drei Lutscher mit der Einzahlungsbestätigung zurückgeschickt.  Jonathan und Charlotte fanden, sie seien zu alt für Lutscher.  Danach sind wir bei Tim Horton's vorbeigefahren (kanadische Kaffeekette).

After about an hour, we reached the highway to Buffalo.

Nach einer Stunde waren wir auf der Autobahn nach Buffalo.

We did not go to Niagara Falls, but to Williamsville.

Wir sind nicht zu den Niagarafällen gefahren, sondern nach Williamsville.

We stopped at a jeweler's to drop off Jonathan's wrist watch for repair/cleaning.  The jeweler was selling this French watch from 1750 for a huge amount of money.

Wir haben bei einem Juwelier angehalten, der auch Uhren repariert.  Jonathans Uhr muß repariert/überholt werden.  Der Juwelier hat eine französische Uhr aus dem Jahre 1750 für viel Geld verkauft.

Across the street: I suppose they are washing dogs.

"Oh, du dreckiger Hund!": Auf der anderen Straße werden wohl Hunde gewaschen.

We briefly stopped at Barnes & Noble before driving on to the soft tissue chiropractor.

Wir haben kurz bei Barnes & Noble, einem Buchladen, angehalten, bevor es weiter zum Chiropraktiker für Weichgewebe ging.

We bought warm-up meals at Wegmans and ate in their café section.  Afterwards, we drove to another supermarket in East Aurora.

Wir haben uns Mittagessen zum Aufwärmen gekauft und im Supermarkt im Café aufgewärmt und da gegessen.  Anschließend sind wir zu einem anderen Supermarkt in East Aurora gefahren.

We did some grocery shopping there and thought that the dragon fruit looked very pretty today.

Wir haben dort eingekauft und fanden die Drachenfrucht dort besonders schön.

Then it was time for the vigil Mass for the Feast of the Assumption.
