Homeschooling in London

This morning, the road sweeper came by.
Heute morgen ist die Straßenkehrmaschine vorbeigekommen.

We worked on our lessons (and I will share some of our special London materials soon) in the morning, then went to the grocery store, and later back to our lessons.  Peter picked up the other professor and one student at the airport.  The other students are supposed to arrive tomorrow.  We are busy with all the preparations for them and that is why I cannot really report any more.  I should mention, though, that I got the sad notice this morning, that the pastor who married Peter and me in Germany just died.  We had corresponded over all those years, in fact, he had sent an advent calendar for Christmas.  May his soul rest in peace.

  1. So sorry to read about your pastor that is indeed very sad news. I hope that the preparations for the new students goes well and that you soon settle in to a manageable daily rhythm xx

    1. It came quite as a shock because, although he was old, he was not ill or anything. I think there are still some museum guides that need to be looked over (those galleries always move their pictures around or put them in storage and then the students cannot find the paintings they are supposed to write about). My homeschool is not quite the way I want it, but I am working at it. I had all these plans for getting everything in order in that respect today, but then I defrosted the freezer! Oh well, maybe tomorrow night there will be a bit of time (although I have to do a lot of grading for my German student).

  2. It's fun to see the road sweeper and those metal chairs look interesting . . are they comfortable to sit in?
I'm sorry to hear about your pastor xoxo It's always sad and disconcerting when someone we care about dies.

    1. No, they are too close to the table top and too narrow for most adults. Very strange chairs!

He was old, born 1933, but still. He was such a quiet, gentle man, but very interested in things and quite learned.
