Last weekend was not only Pentecost, but also Shavuot, the Jewish festival of commemorating the giving of the Torah. We got some picture books from the library to learn more about it and to read some stories. Our favorite books are How Mama Brought the Spring, Sadie and the Big Mountain, Jewish Fairy Tale Feasts (this book has stories and recipes!), and A Mountain of Blintzes. Of course, you need blintzes for this festival. Flora did a great job making them today.Letztes Wochenende war nicht nur Pfingsten, sondern auch Schawuot, ein jüdisches Fest, das an den Empfang der 10 Gebote erinnert. Wir haben schöne Bücher aus der Bücherei dazu gefunden. Zu diesem Fest gehören auch eine besonder Art von gefüllten Eierkuchen (Blintzes oder Blinis). Flora hat sie heute gemacht und sie haben wunderbar geschmeckt.
