Doll Clothes/Puppenkleider

We washed all doll clothes today!  Quite a collection we have accumulated over the years.

Then we rinsed all pretty stones and put them in the sun to dry.

It is quite hot, but Miriam and Veronika nevertheless did a lot of weeding.

During the day we are still busy sorting and cleaning all our possessions.  At night I am doing my homeschool planning forms for New York State.  Jonathan and Charlotte have signed up for college courses.  Charlotte will do music appreciation for credit and sit in on Peter's honors seminar.  Jonathan will do chemistry for credit and also sit in on Peter's class.  Peter is co-teaching it with another professor.  They will cover important literary and philosophical works chronologically over two semesters.  They cannot take that class for credit because it is not open to highschoolers.  We are also trying to make ballet possible.  Our teacher has opened a new studio, but we will have to drive about 30 minutes to get there.  That is not as convenient as it has been all these last past twelve years, when, for the most part, they could WALK to ballet class.  We are hoping to car-pool with other parents because we will have to drive there four times a week.

College Seminare machen.

The next weeks will be super busy.  All the planning and organizing (cleaning) we still have to do in addition to the college course planning and syllabi writing as well.  I have 21 students signed up for German 101 now.  There seems to be a new student every day!  College classes will start at the end of August, but we will wait another week with our little homeschool before starting our new school year.  Next week will be busy with volunteering for Jonathan and Charlotte at summer camps: Charlotte will help with quilting and Jonathan with wilderness survival.  Charlotte will also attend a Shakespeare workshop in the eastern part of New York State.  And then there will be one week of ballet intensive with Mr. Grigorian . . . No wonder I feel a bit of panic coming on . . .  I wish I had another month to get ready!

  3. Yes, the summer goes much too fast and there are too many chores to do! But it looks like you are also having fun :) Washing stones and doll clothes on such a hot day sounds refreshing to and pleasant to me. All the better to have worked at those weeds first! Jonathan and Charlotte's classes sound so fabulous! How nice to be at the college. Good luck with all the planning. I haven't done much with that end of things. I've been a bit melancholy and mopey. However, I have been very busy tonight (we leave for Cape Cod in the morning) and have finally written out a number of thank you notes that I had been putting off in regard to my dad's funeral. I hope I can keep the pace up when we return :) xoxo

    1. I hope that Cape Cod will lift your spirits. I have not had time to find out how I feel about things, I just know I am busy and too hot. The heat makes me very cranky and I do not have time to flee to the air-conditioned parts of campus. I need to work here at home. We are also getting Charlotte ready for her Shakespeare workshop. She is leaving on Saturday. I have not typed one IHIP, but I have chosen the materials for all, but Charlotte. Jonathan does not need one anymore, but he is still finishing subjects. Enjoy your time away. Julius got into another fight and has a big bite wound. We hope we do not have to take him to the vet. With the driving to the museum village this week, there is no car to take him there.

Da muß auch was passieren.

  5. It's fabulous that you were able to parlay your bilingual skills/education into a university position. I've thought about returning to work, but have no idea what I want to do! My degree is in sociology/criminal justice, but I don't want to return to that field.

    1. I am glad that my teaching experiences at Notre Dame and the University of Missouri about 20 years ago, were good for something! It is hard to go back to work when one takes such a long break. Good luck with finding something that interests you! Would you enjoy working in a library, a museum, or a park?
