Van Gogh, Gauguin, Velázquez

This week is kind of busy for us.  Midterm grades at the college are due, textbook selections for next semester are due, and we are trying to finalize swimming lessons and also participation in the National Latin Exam.  So two picture books about famous artists have brightened our days.  The first one is The Yellow House.  This books describes the time Vincent van Gogh and Paul Gauguin lived together and gives plenty of samples of their art.  The second one leads us into the life of Velázquez.  He takes the reader by the hand in the book A Weekend with Velázquez and shows him around in Madrid.  It was very hot today, about 91 degrees.  It is supposed to get warmer tomorrow.

It's a little late here. I should be in bed instead of getting melodramatic on your blog.

    1. Tomorrow should be 93! We had 84 degrees indoors this afternoon, the air-conditioning went on, but I turned it off and made everybody suffer. Actually, right now it is quite pleasant. I was wondering if you were up or about to go to bed :):

    2. You know, it gets really really hot there in the summer! I think it's maybe good that you are there only until May!

I forgot about how hot it can get . . Everyone lives in air conditioning, even though the dry heat is more pleasant than the humid heat of Florida and the South.

    3. I guess that is probably true. LA did get 93 degrees today, a record high for this time of year. Should I turn on the air-conditioning? I don't want to, but maybe tomorrow I have to. We'll see.

    1. It is quite hot, not a good time to be outside (unless you go to the ocean). I left a note on your blog about the package. It did arrive two days ago! Thanks so much!
