Blizzard/Schneesturm

This afternoon our snowstorm was upgraded to a blizzard.  It is 11:00 p.m. and we have 10 degrees.  We have gotten 9 inches of snow so far and it is still coming down.  All schools were closed and there were no ballet classes.  It was hard to walk back from campus this morning.  Our road had not been plowed at all.

Stairs to our house tonight: where are they?

Last week we had some warm days.  Letzte Woche war es etwas wärmer.

 Enjoying the sun
Sonnenscheingenuß

 Melting?
Schneeschmelze?

Maple sap
Ahornsaft

Our neighbors have already hung their buckets for maple sap.

So inside we stay for now, concentrating on doing good for our Lenten charts.

When we get hungry, we love to eat pickled beets.  We found this cute variety.

  1. We love beets also :D

I noticed the tube of neutrogena on the dresser in your photo. It's what we use every year to keep our hands from cracking . .

It was 61 degrees here yesterday, 55 today and it's now 35. I think it's supposed to be 25 by morning. We're getting rain, not snow. I know Chanda would prefer the snow. I'll have to show her your pics in the morning. It looks very pretty, though I can imagine there are many by you who are tired of it.

We read a few more chapters in Laura Ingalls Wilder's _The Long Winter_ this evening. So apropos :)

    1. Beets are supposed to be good for you, especially in the spring because they cleanse the liver, I believe.

Neutrogena is terrific, isn't it? I haven't found anything better so far.

61 degrees! The snow does look pretty with the sun shining on it today, but I don't really want any more of it.

"The Long Winter" does sound right for this. We are reading this German book about people enduring sandstorms. That is quite the opposite.

  2. Whilst we were shopping after school today Pip said, " When we talk to Father God this evening, please can we ask him for snow?!" I told her about where you live and the fact that you have had snow for a very long time!

I think you in door Lenten activities are just beautiful and those happy beets made me smile!

Just wondering if your parcel has been affected by the weather? I'll give it to the end of the month and then make a claim if necessary.

    Hugs to you

    1. So sweet. I wish I could send her some of ours.

I sent you an e-mail two days ago that your package has arrived and that it is just lovely and so practical. It will come in so handy for many things. Everybody was impressed that you indeed made this. Flora said that the small outside pocket was probably for lip balm. So thanks so much again. Such a beautiful present.

  3. Oooh, so viel Schnee!!! Unglaublich! Und so kalt, brrr!!!
Hier hingegen ist der Große Frühling ausgebrochen. Schmetterlinge, Bienen, Blumen, Sonnenschein...

      Alles Liebe!
