Today, Jonathan read a lot about the animals of North and Central America.  He drew a few into his main lesson book. 

Charlotte did a huge pile of ironing.  We also made some "Rote Grütze," a traditional German dish made mainly with cooked berries (red currants, strawberries, etc.) or some other fruit and sugar.  You serve it with cream or vanilla sauce.  Our neighbors had some black currants, and so I cooked them with sugar until they had a thick soup-like consistency.  We let them cool and served them with cream.  You can also add lemon juice, vanilla, cornstarch, and some other more exotic ingredients, but I like a plain version the best.

We had a deer watching us over the fence.  Ein Reh guckt uns zu.

Heute hat Jonathan viel über die Tiere in Nord- und Mittelamerika nachgelesen.  Er hat einige davon in sein Heft gemalt.  Charlotte hat einen Riesenberg gebügelt.  Wir haben Rote Grütze gemacht, da eine Nachbarin uns schwarze Johannisbeeren geschenkt hat.  Mit süßer Sahne war das ganz köstlich.
