There is an interesting article on the NPR website about the benefits of bilingual education. Raising five bilingual children is sometimes not easy because many people are not comfortable with the thought that my children can and do speak a language that not everybody understands. So it is nice to sometimes be reminded of the possible benefits.
Ich habe einen interessanten Arikel zur zweisprachigen Erziehung gelesen. Wenn man fünf Kinder zweisprachig aufwachsen läßt, steht man oft einigen Voruteilen gegenüber. Viele Leute mögen es nicht, wenn sie erfahren, daß meine Kinder eine Sprache sprechen können und sprechen, die andere vielleicht nicht verstehen. So ist es schön, wenn man hin und wieder über die positiven Seiten einer solchen Erziehung etwas liest. Ein sehr gutes Buch auf Deutsch zu diesem Thema ist das Büchlein Zweisprachige Kindererziehung.

DeleteOf course it's beneficial!!! What could be better than know more than one language?! Knowing two or three or four! (It's a great article for the naysayers!)
ReplyDeleteI tried to throw in some extra languages, but they are only fluent in two. Maybe they will get a chance to learn more French and Latin and Biblical Greek as time goes on.
