Nutcracker 2015/Nußknacker 2015
All done and it went so well (except the usual little things that can happen, like a bun falling apart, a mouse in the wrong place so the soldiers could not fight her, a ribbon that came undone, etc.). Three times the auditorium was full, today they brought in extra chairs to seat people. People from our current and old church had come, the French professor, homeschooling friends and friends from our village, etc. It was a big community event. I did take more pictures and I still have my videos, but for this weekend I have "cracked enough nuts." Here are some official pictures from the Genesee Dance Theatre facebook page, I will post mine later.

I like that it was a real community event and that the place was full to overflowing. Hope you did manage to get some much needed sleep. Thinking of you as you push to get the grading done :-)
ReplyDeleteSan xx
Thanks so much, San. It is 9:30 a.m. and Flora is still asleep although she did not even dance. Yes, it was nice to see so many familiar faces and also people we had not seen for a while.
DeleteI love that picture of Charlotte! She must have had so much fun. It's great to go from one role to another (she did flowers and Spanish, right?). Jonathan looks very handsome :) What finally happened with the tights? Chanda said that one boy here had tights that were too thin and had trouble . . Why do they make boys' tights too thin? Silly. Not it's time to get some packages out!!! Did you do your family gifts yet? Europe celebrates the Twelve Days so I like to think you have time. . . ? I love the Christmas season but there's never enough hours in the day, as my Mom would always say. And it's awfully warm this year . .
ReplyDeleteOh, and these Wear Moi tights are really long on top and can be worn with suspenders, but we did not have those. They might fit better with them, though.
DeleteYes, she enjoyed it quite a bit. She also was snow.
DeleteWe ordered two tights for Jonathan, one BalTogs and one Wear Moi. The BalTogs were the better ones, but they were a bit too wide! So he wore the Wear Moi ones, they were okay, but could have used some thicker material. He wanted some tights with cotton because the others are so slippery especially in your ballet slippers (no pun intended). I read some online comments that some men don't like the synthetic ones when they are doing partner work because the partner might "slip away." We also attempted to buy a new nude dance belt at the store, but they were all out of the normal sizes, only XL left, rows after rows (who wears those???). We ordered one, but somehow they must have changed their colors. It was a Capezio one, but was much darker than they used to be. The same was true for Charlotte's nude leotard. The Natalie one fitted okay, but was too dark. We ordered another brand, which did not fit so well, but the color was better. It is all very complicated and I wish that at least the colors were the same.
Yes, you are so right, I do not understand why the boys get the worse tights. I feel sorry for that boy you mentioned. I wonder if other countries have better tights. But maybe they make them all in China and just give them different labels.
Okay, we need to do some cleaning up. Thanks for you nice words about the pictures. I will also now order some things to make our Christmas presents. We will go to the German concert at the Waldorf school on Friday. I wish Morgana could come, she would enjoy it. Jonathan and Flora also have eye doctor's appointments that day. Jonathan has been thinking about trying contact lenses for dancing. He always takes his glasses off, but cannot see so well then.
P.S. The advent calendar had a nice explanation of the candles this morning :) I mean yesterday morning . .
ReplyDeleteYes, I saw that and had to think of my questions to San! Maybe Germans stuck more with the pagan wreath traditions colorwise? We have a children's book that says the first Advent wreath was made in Hamburg, but had 24 candles and they were red. They then got reduced to four because it was easier to do. Maybe nobody really knows where this all comes from.
