George Weigel

For our nature activity today, we planted our Easter grass and hope that we'll get wheat later in the year.  It's already quite late tonight so I will post some pictures tomorrow.

Tonight we all went to hear George Weigel in a lecture entitled "The Canary in the Coal Mine."  It was about worrisome European trends as a warning for the United States, as described in his book  The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without God.


Some other books by Weigel are Witness to Hope : The Biography of Pope John Paul II, God's Choice: Pope Benedict XVI and the Future of the Catholic Church, The Truth of Catholicism: Inside the Essential Teachings and Controversies of the Church Today, Against the Grain: Christianity and Democracy, War and Peace, The Courage To Be Catholic: Crisis, Reform and The Future Of The Church, and Letters to a Young Catholic (Art of Mentoring).

Flora fell asleep during the lecture, but everybody else stayed awake!

Wir haben heute das Ostergras nach draußen gepflanzt.  Fotos davon gibt es aber erst morgen, da es heute abend schon recht spät ist.  Wir waren nämlich bei einem Vortrag von George Weigel mit dem Titel "The Canary in the Coalmine".  Es ging um beunruhigende Zustände in Europa und ihre möglichen  Warnungen und Auswirkungen für und auf Amerika.  Der Vortrag ist eng mit Weigels Buch The Cube and the Cathedral: Europe, America, and Politics Without Godverknüpft.  Deutsche Bücher von George Weigel sind: Das Projekt Benedikt, Zeuge der Hoffnung. Johannes Paul II. Eine Biographie und Die Wahrheit: Lehre und Streitfragen der Kirche von heute. 

Flora ist während des Vortrags eingeschlafen, aber alle anderen sind wach geblieben!
