Washington's Teeth and More/Washingtons Zähne und mehr

In the light of Presidents' Day, we've been enjoying books about Lincoln and Washington.  Today we read a very funny book about Washington's teeth!  It's called George Washington's Teeth.  It talks about all the problems Washington had due to his bad teeth.  Two very nice books about Lincoln are Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books and Abe Lincoln Remembers. 

At the early Mass this morning, Father encouraged us to read about the "Our Father" in the Catechism of the Catholic Church.  He gave a very interesting sermon about the "Our Father." 

At the library we found some new books.  One was The Giant Jam Sandwich, a story about how a village got rid of nasty wasps.  Another was called When Johnny Comes Marching Home, part of a series about patriotic songs.  We also really like the bold colors in the books by Gerald McDermott.  So we checked out Musicians of the Sun. 

At home, Jonathan drew his labyrinth for the Minotaur.  He had so much fun doing it.   Charlotte worked on more equivalent fractions, and Miriam did some work in her math books.  Jonathan also did some physics experiments about balance, as outlined in Science and Living in God´s World. 

Charlotte read about "mimicry" to Veronika and Miriam.

In the afternoon, we listened to French songs with French for Kids and the Whole Family, the children played outside, and did their religion lesson. In the evening, Jonathan and Charlotte had ballet.

Wir lesen immer noch Bücher über Lincoln und Washington, da sie beide in diesem Monat Geburtstag haben.  Heute haben wir über die schlechten Zähne von Washington in George Washington's Teethgelesen.  Zwei schöne Bücher über Lincoln sind Abe Lincoln: The Boy Who Loved Books und Abe Lincoln Remembers. 

Bei der Frühmesse heute morgen hat der Pfarrer über das "Vater unser" sehr interessant gepredigt und uns nahegelegt darüber im Katechismus der katholischen Kirche zu lesen.  In der Bücherei haben wir ein paar neue Bücher gefunden.  The Giant Jam Sandwich erzählt die Geschichte von einem Dorf, das mit einem Riesenmarmeladenbrot eine Wespenplage beseitigen will.  Es ist auch mal ins Deutsche übersetzt worden.  When Johnny Comes Marching Home gehört zu einer Serie über patriotische Lieder.  Dann haben wir noch ein Bilderbuch von Gerald McDermott ausgeliehen, das Musicians Of The Sun heißt.  Wir mögen seine farbigen Bilderbücher sehr.   Zu Hause hat Jonathan das Labyrinth für den Minotaurus gemalt.  Es hat ihm großen Spaß gemacht.  Charlotte hat weiterhin Äquivalenzbrüche an die Tafel und ins Heft geschrieben und Miriam hat viel gerechnet.  Für Physik hat Jonathan in seinem Naturwissenschaftsbuch über Waagen und Dreh-und Angelpunkte gelesen und einige Experimente gemacht.  Charlotte hat Miriam und Veronika über "Mimikry" vorgelesen. 
Am Nachmittag haben wir französische Lieder gehört, die Kinder waren draußen und haben ihe Religionslektion gelesen.  Abends hatten Jonathan und Charlotte noch Ballett.
