Erie Canal and Dance/Eriekanal und Tanz

A very wet and foggy day
Ein sehr nasser und nebliger Tag

Flora participated in a huge dance event on Saturday, benefitting victim of domestic violence.

We dropped her off at a high school in Spencerport.

While she was warming up, Peter and I had a cup of coffee and went for a walk in the rain.

There is even a small museum, but it was closed.

Then we drove on the Brockport to visit a bookstore.  It was "Independent Bookstore Day."

Back in Spencerport, we saw Flora perform.  She is on the very right.

The show started at 5:30 p.m. and went until 8:00 p.m.  It was very long.  We finally left the school at 8:30 p.m.

Die Veranstaltung ging von 17.30 bis 20.00 Uhr.  Sie war sehr lang.  Um 21.30 Uhr sind wir dann endlich weggekommen.

After the show, we drove to Wegmans to have supper and do our grocery shopping for the week.

We were able to watch the latest news.
Wir konnten die Nachrichten dort sehen.

Flora and I picked out fruits and vegetables, while Peter shopped for the rest we needed.

We got home around midnight and were quite tired.

    1. Thanks so much, San. She had a good time though they messed up the music recording. They accidentally played our dancers' piece at a slower speed without warning. Our dancers had to adjust their choreography on the fly.

  2. I read that Flora had to adjust to a different speed for her dance! I'm sure that was not easy. Though it was long, it does look like a nice performance and she is lovely in her tutu and pointe shoes! Home at midnight! Yes, all of you must have been very weary! I hope you were able to sleep a little bit longer the next morning. (Not such fun news to shop by! It must have felt like a bit of a strange evening.)

    1. Yes, somehow the music files had been mislabeled, and they played the wrong one. At least the girls did not get a different music piece! Yes, home at midnight. But we had to buy some groceries and could not skip that part. No, we did not really sleep in because Flora and Peter always leave early on Sunday mornings to practice the music for Sunday Mass. Yes, it was kind of strange to have those news playing while we were eating after such a pleasant day. They also showed a warning for flooding in some of the neighborhoods we had to drive through to get home. We were really concerned about that one because on our way up to Rochester we already drove through puddles on the road that were like small lakes. But we did not encounter big floods going home. That was good!

    2. So good . . the flash flooding is worrisome and I don't enjoy rainstorms as much as I used to! I once helped my cousin drive home in a terrible rainstorm by reading out to her where the storm was on the radar of the accuweather app on my phone. She was considering exiting and waiting it out, but I thought that would be more dangerous because sometimes the exit/entrance ramps get flooded as do the side streets. Also, she was just ahead of the full force of the storm and by continuing to drive, she eventually came to her proper exit and was able to drive east away from it.

    1. No, and not quite what you expect at this time of year.
