Part of our poetry studies: Flora learns how to use a rhyming dictionary. She is working her way through Grammar of Poetry, a program I have used with all children.

DeletePoor Flora --
ReplyDeleteWhat horror!
It's dreadfully scary,
A rhyming dictionary.
No, she is not poor! She is enjoying it, and we are practicing those dictionary skills again.
DeleteHow many dvds are there? Do you find them helpful, or is the workbook alone sufficient?
ReplyDeleteThere are 4 DVDs, but I think the latest version of this program is a streaming version. You can get it through Compass Classroom. I think it depends on the type of learner you are. Jonathan and Flora did use the DVDs, but then skipped most of the explanations in the student book. The DVDs and explanations are similar, but not identical. I like the DVDs, because you hear the poetry being read. Especially when you are not a strong reader or know where to put a stress in a line of poetry, it is good to listen to the teacher reading the lines. The workbook exercises are not all covered in the DVDs, but there is an answer key in the teacher book. So, I guess I cannot give you a satisfying answer. Compass Classroom has a sample of the video and the texts you could look at.
DeleteNo, this is a good answer. Thank you Eva.
DeleteMy pleasure.
