Palm Sunday and Sambourne/Palmsonntag und Sambourne

We celebrated Palm Sunday with a wonderful procession at The Church of Our Lady of the Assumption and St Gregory on Warwick Street.  This is a very old church, "It is the oldest Catholic church in England (excluding those used as Anglican churches and then returned to Catholic usage)" (Wikipedia).

Our Lady of the Assumption and St. Gregory gefeiert.

We started out here for our procession.
Hier hat die Prozession angefangen.

This church is particularly interesting because it is operated by The Personal Ordinariate of Our Lady of Walsingham.  This basically means that the Mass is using a form of the Anglican rite and many of the celebrating priests and even the bishop used to be Anglican clergymen that converted to Roman Catholicism.  While living in Bonn, I attended the Anglican church service there because I was curious what an Anglican service looked like.  Being in this church on Warwick Street reminded me of my visits there.

And then we visited the Sambourne House, which we had never visited before.  You can read about Linley Sambourne here.

  1. Sanbourne House is very interesting to see (and the wisteria on the outside is beautiful). The short film about it is very good. How nice that you attended the church procession (we had a lovely local procession also at a nearby church). I think your church interior is pretty . . I always find blue and white interiors very cheery.

    1. They have used this house in movies because it looks so authentic. Which church did you go to? True, the color looks fresh and inviting.

    2. I attended our local church: St. Luke in the Fields. I've often posted photos of their garden, and Chanda used to take Aurélien there as a baby when she sat with him.

    3. That is so good to attend a neighborhood church.

    4. Yes, I agree. It's only like a five minute walk!
