On Sunday, we went to St. Mary's in Hampstead. The priest saying Mass that morning was the one who had suggested to us to see the Silver Vaults. We let him know that we had gone and he thought that was great.

And then we had reserved tickets for the Fenton House.
Jahrhundert.
It has beautiful gardens.
Es hat einen schönen Garten.
It also features lots of old instruments. One used to be Handel's harpsicord, but you could not take a picture of it because it is owned by the royal family. And the player of these instruments that afternoon was none other as the organist from St. Mary's! We had heard him just a few hours ago in church. He is an expert of old instruments, but we were not allowed to make videos of his playing.
Leider durfte man keine Videos machen.

Such a beautiful house! How nice that the organist was there, and I was still able to hear his lovely playing :D You had sunshine and I think you've been visiting many lovely places near where you've been staying.
ReplyDeleteIt is an interesting house, not as grand as some others, but still very pleasant and "local." We never thought we would manage to see as many new places as we did. Of course, we have our favorite places and tend to revisit, but we also discovered new surprises.
DeleteP.S. Yes, the organist is quite talented and very knowledgeable when it comes to old musical instruments. He even knows which museum in London has what kind of instrument and when it was built!
DeleteSuch a fascinating thing to know!
DeleteYes, I thought you were quite intrepid with your "field trips!" :) You had lots of good energy in London, despite being so sick at the beginning.
DeleteI guess that is true. Maybe it is because once we are back home, our life will be quite ordinary and calm. When we get to Europe, we have to do all those things we normally cannot do.
DeleteSo true. And when you get home, everything will feel so out of the ordinary and new again for a little while! I love that feeling when returning home . . one rediscovers one's home again!
DeleteYes, it will be like a rediscovery of home.
