Jonathan and Charlotte participated in a field trip with a college class on Islam. It was organized by our neighbor, who teaches this class. They went to the mosque in Rochester and participated in the Friday worship there. The women all had to sit separately from the men and wear head coverings. They also had a talk with one of the leaders of the center. They both thought that the visit was very interesting and educational.
Jonathan und Charlotte haben an einem Ausflug mit einem Collegekurs über den Islam teilgenommen. Unser Nachbar unterrichtet diesen Kurs und hat die beiden mitgenommen. Sie sind zur Moschee in Rochester gefahren und haben dort an einem Gottesdienst teilgenommen. Die Studentinnen mußten alle ihre Köpfe mit einem Tuch bedecken und separat von den Studenten sitzen. Anschließend haben sie sich mit einem Leiter des Zentrums getroffen. Beide Kinder fanden diesen Ausflug sehr interessant and lehrreich.

Tonight: Attending a choir concert. Two of my current German students were singing with the choir. They sang two German hymns, one was "Nun danket alle Gott."
Chorkonzert des Collegechors. Zwei meiner Studenten haben mitgesungen. Es gab zwei deutsche Kirchenlieder, und eins davon war "Nun danket alle Gott."
Tomorrow, daylight savings time will start, hard to believe: It is snowing right now and quite cold. We will also have an early St. Patrick's Day party at church. I will have to make a salad for that one.
Morgen beginnt hier die Sommerzeit: Das ist so verrückt, weil es draußen schneit und sehr kalt ist. Außerdem gibt es morgen eine vorgezogene St. Patricktagsfeier in der Kirche, für die ich einen Salat machen muß.
What a lovely day, especially having the time with Jonathan. The Swedish meal looked delicious, and it was presented so prettily. It's nice to see the napkins out :) How fun to get some surprise gifts in the mail! The orange chocolate looks yummy :) Buon appetito!

DeleteSo glad that the pacakage arrived. Looks like you have ball been busy with lots of fun projects, it must be really lovely to have Jonathan home. Cannot believe that you are on DST already, I think we have a few weeks yet before that happens.
ReplyDeleteBenedict finishes college for Easter on thursday of this week and will return straight after the Easter weekend. If Pip had still been in school she would finish on Maundy Thursday and would not return until the middle of April! Good job we are home schooling :-) i think i will keep up with home school otherwise we will fall behind, but like you we will spend our time following hands on activities.

I hat DST time and I hate that they start it so early here. I still have not adjusted. Benedict's break is as short as ours for Easter! I am not sure what the schools are doing here. We are back to our regular pace now. Jonathan left on Sunday. Flora is doing Old Testament this week still. I think we will do math after that as our main lesson. I can share our plans again with you, but you might be ahead of us!
DeleteYes, it was a good day, although I am always sad when Jonathan leaves. There is a special bond between mother and son, even though we don't always get along.

ReplyDeleteJa, das ist ein Notizblock. Flora findet das sehr praktisch, da ich immer einen Block in meine Handtasche tue, der aber sehr schnell voll wird. Ihr habt Euch vielleicht mit Telepathie kurzgeschlossen??!!! Alles war auf jeden Fall sehr schön.
