Jesus of Nazareth/Jesus von Nazareth

This Lent Jonathan, Charlotte, and I are watching the movie Jesus of Nazareth. I watched it the first time when I was eleven and was staying at my uncle's for a few days. I was so moved that I watched it again when it was on TV a few years later. Then, as an exchange-student in Canada, I had another chance to see it, this time in English.

I'm so happy that I can share it now with my older children, our library had it on DVD, and what better time to watch it than Lent!  Besides, Jonathan focuses on Jesus Christ in religion this year (he is reading Through Christ Our Lord), so this film is perfect for his studies.  This is not a film to watch with little children, but it is wonderful for older ones (teenagers), especially once you have covered the Romans.

Charlotte is doing much better today, the chiropractor called to check on her, she is still somewhat stiff, though, so she had to cancel her cleaning time with Mrs. M. tomorrow.

Tomorrow is already Holy Thursday, we will have to drive to a different village for Mass tomorrow, and on Friday we will drive again to another village for Good Friday.  The Easter Vigil will be in our church Saturday evening, which will be nice.

I also have quite a few Easter preparations to finish, mainly baking and cooking, but we hope to do one more craft.  We did make three Easter candles today, I'll post a picture tomorrow.

Foto folgt.

  1. I'm so glad that Charlotte is feeling better, a trapped nerve/pulled muscle in the neck is awful.

The wheat grass is starting to sprout, next year I'll sprout it first before planting.

We made an easter wreath yesterday from an idea found on pinterest I'll have to take some pictures and I'm hoping that we can decorate candles today.

We have sun and blue skies, it's still very cold but to see the sunshine is uplifting.

    San xx

    1. Today she was almost back to her old self, we are so thankful!

I'm glad the grass is sprouting, ours is too, but I don't think it will be really green for Easter. I think the air is too cold for it to grow tall enough.

I would love to see the wreath, I always have Easter branches I decorate.

We don't have any sunshine today and it's supposed to rain for Easter. Too bad, but I'm glad you have sunshine for a change.

  3. wow!!! what a great cast! i had forgotten about this movie, eva. i saw it so many years ago on tv . . when it was an event to have a movie play on a particular night! thanks for the reminder. the girls would like to see this.

enjoy your final easter preparations :) i like easter as time feels a little slower than christmas (with all it's nutcracker rehearsals and other holiday concerts).

    1. Isn't it? Yes, it was originally on TV. Do you know that Zeffirelli has made quite a few interesting and good movies? I do like his "Romeo and Juliet."

I also prefer Easter preparations to Christmas ones. There is less to do and spring is in the air!
