Photography Project and Accident/Fotografie Projekt und Unfall

Flora has to complete the final project for her photography class.  Peter took her to the river to find a good spot to take her pictures.  Flora is using San's camera for her assignment because she has to shoot in the manual setting.

 

Flora muß ihr Abschlußprojekt für ihren Fotografiekurs machen.  Peter ist mit ihr zum Fluß gegangen, damit sie eine gute Stelle zum Fotografieren findet.  Flora benutzt Sans Fotoapparat, da sie mit dem manuellen Modus fotografieren muß.

I am not able to type much right now because I managed to allow my sewing machine to use my finger as fabric.  Yesterday, while I was doing some mending, the needle broke off and entered one of my fingers through the nail, past the bone, and out at the bottom again.  There it got stuck, and I could not pull it out.  Of course, Peter was gone, taking Flora to the GCV&M for her summer camp assistant prep meeting, and I was without a car.  Luckily, our neighbor was able to drive me to the next urgent care facility which is about 30 minutes away.  The x-rays showed that the bone was undamaged, and so the provider proceeded to pull out the needle and the attached thread.  Now I am on antibiotics and have to take care of my finger.  Everybody at the urgent care was very friendly, and quite a few people had been to Germany or had German relatives.  They all shared their stories with me.  The medic who pulled out the needle used to work for the American army in Germany 😊 ; he was used to "metal objects stuck in people."

Ich kann im Moment nicht viel tippen, weil ich gestern beim Flicken mit der Nähmaschine meinen Finger mit dem Stoff aus unerklärlichem Grunde verwechselt habe.  Die Nadel ist in den Finger, durch den Nagel am Knochen vorbei gesprungen und an der Unterseite des Fingers wieder rausgekommen.  Das ist sie steckengeblieben und ich konnte sie nicht herausziehen.  Natürlich hatte ich kein Auto, weil Peter Flora zu einer Orientierungs-veranstaltung für ihre Assistentenstelle bei den Ferienlagern im Freilichtmuseum gefahren hatte.  Also habe ich mich an die Nachbarschaft gewandt.  Eine junge Frau hat mich zur Notfallklinik gefahren, die ca. 30 Minuten entfernt ist und Notfälle behandelt, die nicht lebensbedrohlich sind. Nach einer Röntgenaufnahme haben sie festgestellt, daß der Knochen nicht betroffen war und so konnten sie dann die Nadel und den Faden herausziehen.  Ich muß Antibiotika nehmen und den Finger schonen.  Alles Personal war sehr freundlich und der Paramedic hat früher bei der amerikanischen Armee in Deutschland gearbeitet.  Ein Fremdkörper aus Metall in einem Finger war für ihn nichts Außergewöhnliches😊.  Er hatte viel zu erzählen und auch einige andere Krankenschwestern da hatten deutsche Verbindungen (Vorfahren).  So gab es guten Gesprächsstoff.
