Frank Lloyd Wright

We got the Ken Burns movie Frank Lloyd Wright from the library.  We watched part 1 tonight and it was very interesting and well-done.

Wir haben uns einen Film über Frank Lloyd Wright aus der Bücherei ausgeliehen.  Heute abend haben wir den ersten Teil gesehen.  Der Film ist sehr gut gemacht und man kann viel lernen.

  1. We really enjoyed this also! Chanda also liked the kids' fiction novel by Blue Balliet titled _The Wright Three_.

    1. I will have to see if our library has that book. I thought it was awful to hear what that butler did with the people at Taliesin.

    1. Yes, just so strange too. I wonder why this servant did that.

We watched the second part today. St. Vincent College is very close to Falling Waters. Jonathan was supposed to go there with the honors students last semester, but he forgot to sign up and there was no room on the bus for him anymore. I hope they will offer that trip again.

    1. Yes, I hope so too. He is just sometimes too slow in responding to the relevant e-mails.

  4. Hi Eva (and Dorina). (Dave in Lancaster Lancs here!) I have just come across this posting and couldn't resist adding to the lovely conversation you folks are having. I think FLW is a fascinating story, my civil engineering background helps with this interest. I will try and get hold of the the PBS film that you have mentioned. San and I watched a very good BBC take on FLW, presented by a quirky Welsh architect https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lv7kXw_0-nM. Speaking of FLW, you might have heard of a Scottish architect called Charles Rennie Mackintosh. As well as architecture, he was also instrumental in the growth of the Art and Craft Movement that FLW might have been influenced by. One of CRM's greatest creations, the Glasgow School of Art, has recently had its second major fire in 4 years! You might like to have a look at the very interesting BBC programme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d3wYxXHo5uI.
    All the best, Dave xx

    1. Hello Dave,

I am so glad you liked our discussion on FLW! I also found some children's books (fiction and non-fiction) about him, which were just wonderful.

Thanks so much for the link to the BBC movie. No, I am not familiar with Mackintosh. I looked in our library catalog, if thy had anything about him and came across a book called "Mr. Mac and Me." Do you know that one? I will also look up that second link you sent. Thanks so much for sharing! I love connections like this :).
