Rosh Hashanah/Rosch Haschanah

It is evening (Thursday), I am sitting here grading my German 101 exam, preparing my two classes for tomorrow, helping Veronika with her German grammar, and listen to Rosh Hashanah music :).  Peter is on campus, Miriam and Charlotte are dancing and will come home soon.  Today is theJewish new year celebration and it is Flora's turn to learn about the Jewish festivals this school year.  She loves this CD I got from the library for her.  We also read A Picture Book of Jewish Holidays and Apples and Honey.  Tomorrow we will read All About Rosh Hashanah and On Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur

Our silk scarves turned out to look so beautiful!  Here are pictures:

Unsere Seidenschals sind wunderschön geworden.  Hier sind ein paar Fotos:

Einige Ballettfotos von Flora, Miriam und Veronika am Dienstag

Because of ballet, sometimes we only have one child home for supper.  The others eat in the car.

Here are some main lesson work pictures:

And today there was time to celebrate Julia's high school graduation with her family and friends until it got dark.

 Enjoying his food!
Ihm schmeckt es!

Jonathan went to the health center (they call it wellness center) because he felt pretty sick and had lost his voice completely.  They diagnosed him with bronchitis and put him on Mucinex and antibiotics.  He is slowly feeling better.  We bought him a get-well-card!

  1. My goodness you have been super busy! We didn't get to celebrate Rosh Hashanah, I was whacked after all the multiple college trips that day! I will probably share a bit about the feast tomorrow, since we have a quiet day at home.

Flora has produced some beautiful work for her MLB and I will for sure show the pictures to Pip. I am glad to read that J has some medicines that should hopefully be working by now, I bet he appreciated a card from home :-)

You did a beautiful job with the silk scarves, Flora looks very fetching in hers.

We actually managed to attend Saturday evening mass which was a real grace and so I'm just about to eat my supper with Dave and then knit for a while before bed. Tomorrow will be a planning day for school next week.

    Love to you all
    San and co xx

    1. Driving back and forth to places is a huge time commitment! Maybe you could try to do something for Sukkot, which started today.

Thanks so much for your kind words about Flora's work. I think Jonathan is healthy again. I hope he will not get sick like this again so soon.

The dyeing was so much fun!

Wonderful that you managed to go to Mass! I hope your weeks will continue to be manageable.

  2. Gute Besserung Jonathan!

  3. Hello Eva, I hope Jonathan is on the mend by now. The photos of the field in the beginning are beautiful. Was that all goldenrod? The scarves turned out very well! Flora's lesson pages are just lovely, and the dinner table looked very inviting :) I always found surveying very interesting. Did Veronika enjoy learning about it?

    1. I think he is doing fine again, at least he has not complained about his health anymore :). Yes, there is a lot of goldenrod around here. Goldenrod and purple asters are our fall flowers here. Veronika was kind of annoyed that her two ways of measuring the height of the tree did not match up. But I told her it was probably because of the hill the tree is standing on and also because her measuring devices were kind of primitive. But she did enjoy it.
