Jonathan is studying Modern History this school year and I am designing our own syllabus with Light to the Nations II as backbone. I chose for him a movie to watch the other day. It is about the life of St. Vincent de Paul. It is an old movie and in French with English subtitles. We both thought it was very moving and well done. Jonathan lernt dieses Schuljahr etwas über die Geschichte der Moderne. Ich stelle für dieses Fach den Lehrplan selbst zusammen und benutze ein Textbuch als Rückgrat. Dazu ergänze ich seine Studien mit Büchern aus der Bücherei, aber auch Filmen, CDs und Kunstgeschichte. Neulich habe ich ihm einen Film über den heiligen Vinzenz gegeben. Dieser Film ist alt und auf Französisch mit englischen Untertiteln. Wir haben beide gedacht, daß der Film sehr beeindruckend und gut gemacht war.

ReplyDeleteYou are welcome, it is always interesting to see how much you can show with fewer acts of violence and more through language and good acting. This film is a good example for this.
