Lenten Hymns and More/Kirchenlieder zur Fastenzeit und mehr

Our street had another visit from the sewer people today.  That was very exciting for everybody.  Flora kept saying "Laster," "Laster," which means "truck."  We spent most of our morning writing thank-you notes for various birthday and even still some Christmas presents.  I also put in three hours of ironing (throughout the day). 

Jonathan went to a P.E. class for homeschoolers.  They played badminton again.  It's within walking distance and free and so very convenient for all of us.  In the afternoon, the children worked on their snow castles.  Even Flora stayed outside for almost an hour! 

For Lent, we picked a new hymn to sing during this week:  "The glory of these forty days."  Last week we sang "Lord, who throughout these forty days."  We pick most of our hymns from the Adoremus Hymnal.  We also own the CD that has the first verse of all the hymns on it.  That is very helpful with some of the Latin hymns.

While I was making supper, the children listened to Alle Vögel sind schon da.  Quite often they would sing along. 


Heute waren die Kanalarbeiter wieder da.  Da gab es natürlich viel zu gucken.  Flora sagte immer wieder "Laster", "Laster", so aufregend war das.  Am Morgen haben wir vorwiegend Bedankmichbriefe für diverse Geburtstagsgeschenke und auch noch ein paar Weihnachtsgeschenke geschrieben.  Ich habe auch drei Stunden (über den Tag verteilt) gebügelt. 

Jonathan hat heute mit anderen Heimschülern wieder Badminton gespielt.  Er muß dafür nicht weit gehen und dazu ist es noch kostenlos.  Das ist für alle sehr angenehm.  Die Kinder haben am Nachmittag ihre Schneeburgen fertig gebaut.  Sogar Flora war eine Stunde draußen!

Für die Fastenzeit suchen wir uns jede Woche ein neues Kirchenlied aus, welches wir dann üben.  Letzte Woche war es "Lord, who throughout these forty days", heute haben wir "The glory of these forty days" gesungen.  Wir benutzen dafür das Adoremus Gesangbuch, welches auch eine CD hat.  Diese CD ist besonders bei lateinischen Liedern hilfreich.

Während ich Abendbrot zubereitet habe, haben die Kinder deutsche Kinderlieder gehört und auch gesungen.
