Flora had her art class this morning. While she was doing that, I made some apple cider jello.
Flora hatte heute morgen Kunst und während dieser Zeit habe ich Wackelpudding aus Apfelsaft gemacht.
We had a chicken potato soup for lunch.
Zum Mittagessen habe ich eine Kartoffel-Huhnsuppe gekocht.
While I was teaching German, the girls baked these pretty cookies (recipe can be found in this book, paid link) to celebrate St. Hildegard, Flora's confirmation saint. Today is her feast day.
Während ich Deutsch unterrichtet habe, haben die Mädchen diese Hildegardsplätzchen gebacken. Die heilige Hildegard ist Floras Firmheilige und heute ist ihr Namenstag.

Today is Constitution Day and there was a lecture on campus with the title "The Philosophical Foundations of Constitutionalism" which Peter had organized. It was an interesting lecture with a good speaker (Dr. David Corey). Jonathan attended a lecture at AEI yesterday. The title was "Presidential Greatness and the Fragility of Judicial Supremacy" and the speaker was one of his Harvard professors, Jack Landman Goldsmith. Jonathan thought that his lecture was also good.
Heute ist hier Tag der Verfassung. Beim College gab es einen Vortrag mit dem Titel "Die philosophischen Grundlagen des Konstitutionalismus", den Peter organisiert hat. Es war ein interessanter Vortrag mit einem guten Redner. Jonathan war gestern bei einem Vortrag in Washington mit dem Titel "Präsidentschaftsgröße und die Brüchigkeit der judikativen Vorherrschaft". Sein Vortrag hat ihm auch sehr gut gefallen.
Du bist ja immer sehr fleißig. Die Hühnersuppe sieht ja total interessant aus. Mit Kartoffeln kenne ich das überhaupt nicht. Viele hier nehmen Nudeln, aber ich nehme immer Reis. Aber ich glaube, Kartoffeln würde ich auch gern mal probieren.
ReplyDeleteJa, es gibt immer sehr viel zu tun! Ja, mit Nudeln kenne ich das auch, aber die Kartoffeln sind interessanter. Ich nehme rote Kartoffeln, die so dünne Schalen haben, daß man sie nicht zu schälen braucht.

ReplyDeleteYes, they were a kind of butter cookie with spices. The mushrooms had some spinach and red onions in them. I sauteed the spinach and the onions in olive oil. Then I sprinkled the mushrooms with panko and grated cheese. Oh, the jello is very simple! You just follow the instructions on the back of the Knox gelatin package! I used half the recipe (2 cups of apple cider) and added two tablespoons of sugar. You can add more sugar or also use honey. You can also use less gelatin. The box uses two envelopes for 2 cups of juice, but 1 envelope also works, if you do not want to have a stiff jello. Thanks for the feast day wishes! Flora was happy to receive them.
