Funeral Mass and German/Totenmesse und Deutsch

The church was packed for Joy's funeral Mass.  Many people had to stand and all the parking lots were full.  It was a beautiful Mass: Peter played the organ, and Veronika was cantor.  Lots of people from our old church were there, all of them older and frailer, but they had come.  

Die Kirche war für Joys Totenmesse ganz voll.  Viele Leute mußten stehen, und es gab keine Parkplätze mehr.  Es war eine schöne Messe.  Peter hat Orgel gespielt und Veronika war Vorsängerin.  Viele Leute aus unserer alten Kirche waren anwesend, alle älter und gebrechlicher, aber sie sind gekommen.

We could not stay for the lunch afterwards because I had to rush back to teach my German students, and Veronika had to see the dentist about a filling that had gotten loose.

Leider konnten wir nicht zum anschließenden Mittagessen bleiben, weil ich mein Deutschseminar abhalten mußte und Veronika zum Zahnarzt mußte.  Eine Füllung war locker geworden.

We did a lot of homeschooling work in the afternoon.  Here is our German work:

Nachmittags haben Flora und ich viele Fächer gemacht.  Hier ist ein bißchen vom Deutschunterricht.

I think this is a wonderful workbook to learn about German geography.  We have used it for each of our children.  When Jonathan used it, it was still in black and white.

Dieses Arbeitsheft ist sehr schön aufgemacht.  Man damit prima deutsche Heimatkunde lernen.  Wir haben es mit allen Kindern benutzt.  Als Jonathan es benutzt hat, war es noch schwarz-weiß.

I really like this book: It has stories and information from different areas of Germany.
