May Day/1. Mai

I hope all your brooms are still where they belong!  Flora, Veronika, and Miriam hid ours last night.  Lo and behold, some nevertheless made their way outside.  I wonder why the witches thought they could ride with those to the Blocksberg?  For Walpurgis Night we always hide the brooms so the witches can't take them.  And no, we are NOT pagan.

    1. I'm glad I could help out and made your day! I hope you are doing better by now. I love swimming and don't understand why it's so difficult for my children. I hope they will learn this summer.

Do you have any special May Activities for May 1 you like to do?

  3. Sadly no, May Day celebrations in our part of the UK have been squashed by a variety of influences, in some cases the church and also a change in cultural norms and fragmentisation of communities.

We do have a May Bank Holiday and there are onw or two places local to us offering a fair and poss morris men. When i was growing up we used to have a May procession and crowning of Our Lady but all that has changed too.

A hug to you on this Friday morning.

    1. What are poss morris men? I have never heard of them! In the States most churches still do May crownings in church, but not necessarily on May 1.
