Kastanien/Horse Chestnuts

Jonathan brought home these chestnuts after his chemistry class. He found them under the chestnut tree we always visit in the fall. After my office hours and Flora's ballet class, Veronika, Miriam, Flora, and I went chestnut hunting ourselves. Charlotte had a flute lesson and Jonathan had his chemistry lab.

Jonathan hat diese Kastanien nach seinem Chemiekurs nach Hause gebracht. Er hat sie unter der Kastanie gefunden, die wir jeden Herbst besuchen. Nach meiner Sprechstunde und Floras Ballettstunde haben Miriam, Veronika, Flora und ich dann auch Kastanien gesucht. Charlotte hatte Querflötenstunde und Jonathan sein Chemielaborkurs.

The Admissions Building has a bell tower that was playing music while we were learning all about chestnuts.

And at night, Jonathan, Charlotte, Miriam, Veronika, and I went to the homecoming concert. Charlotte's music professor and three of my students were part of it.

Und abends bin ich mit Jonathan, Charlotte, Miriam und Veronika zu einem Collegekonzert gegangen. Charlottes Musikprofessor und drei meiner Studenten haben mitgemacht.

New Passport/Neuer Paß

This summer my passport expired. To get a new one, I either have to travel to NYC or to Buffalo to apply for one in person. We chose Buffalo and met the honorary consul there, a very nice man. Before meeting him, we had German passport pictures made by a knowledgeable photographer (they are different from American passport photos and only one photographer in the area can make them) and also ate lunch at Betty's. It has been several years since we walked in downtown Buffalo and I think I never finished uploading my pictures from our last trip there. I did not take so many pictures today because we had to hurry to be back for my German teaching and then the ballet drive in the afternoon. But here is what we saw.

Im Sommer ist mein Paß abgelaufen. Um einen neuen zu bekommen, muß ich entweder zum Generalkonsulat nach New York oder zum Honorarkonsul nach Buffalo. Wir sind nach Buffalo gefahren und haben den Konsul kennengelernt. Er war sehr nett. Bevor wir ihn treffen konnten, brauchte ich noch deutsche Paßfotos, die anders als die amerikanischen sind und nur von einem bestimmten Fotografen gemacht werden konnten. Zu Mittag haben wir bei Betty's gegessen. Zum letzten Mal sind wir vor einigen Jahren durch Buffalo gelaufen. Die Fotos von damals habe ich noch gar nicht alle hochgeladen, glaube ich. Ich habe heute nicht so viele Fotos gemacht, weil wir wieder pünktlich zu Hause sein mußten, damit ich unterrichten und die Kinder zum Ballett fahren konnten. Hier sind aber ein paar Ansichten.
