Today was my last day of teaching my German tutorial. The student still has to take her final and I have to grade it, but doing that won't take very long. Peter has some oral exams and lots of grading left. Grades are due by the end of next week.
Heute habe ich zum letzten Mal meine Deutschstudentin unterrichtet. Das Semester ist zu Ende. Die Studentin muß noch eine Klausur schreiben, aber die zu korrigieren wird nicht so lange dauern. Peter hat noch mündliche Prüfungen übrig und muß noch viel korrigieren. Die Noten müssen Ende nächster Woche abgegeben werden.
Flora has been doing a lot of botany. Today we learned about the violet and she drew one into her main lesson book. I have to take pictures of her work! She also has been working with geometrical shapes, identifying them, weighing them, and constructing a bar graph.
Flora macht im Moment viel in Botanik. Heute haben wir uns mit dem Veilchen beschäftigt. Sie hat eins in ihr Heft gemalt. Ich muß das unbedingt fotografieren! Wir haben auch geometrische Körper benannt, sie gewogen und aus den Ergebnissen ein Säulendiagramm erstellt.

Veronika has started a main lesson on the development of drama. We read "Antigone" and are now reading "As You Like It." We are also reading about Shakespeare using
this book. It is quite good. For the Greek drama, Veronika colored
this theatrical mask from Sybille. All masks are available for free on her site!

Miriam is doing a main lesson on philosophy. We are using several sources, the main one is the online lecture series by R.C. Sproul:
The Consequences of Ideas. It is perfect for a high school overview of philosophy. She is also finishing her little booklet about Transcendentalism, which she has started earlier this year.

Here are her radishes she planted with Flora: The ones under a black box grew faster, although they stayed yellow at the beginning. We now took the box off and they turned green.
Hier sind ihre Radieschen von dem Biologieexperiment: Die Samen unter der schwarzen Kiste sind schneller gewachsen, doch gelb geblieben. Wir haben jetzt die Kiste abgenommen und sie sind grün geworden.
Charlotte is almost done with finals and will come home on the weekend. She has also received her second vaccine.
Charlotte ist fast mit den Abschlußklausuren fertig und kommt am Wochenende nach Hause. Sie hat jetzt auch ihre 2. Impfung bekommen.
Jonathan is wrapping up his senior year. He had an honors convocation and received an award for academic excellence. No guests were aloud, but we could watch the convocation online. It was in the basilica of SVC.
Jonathan ist bald mit seinem letzten Semester fertig. Am Mittwoch haben die Studenten mit den besten Leistungen einen Preis bekommen. Es fand in der Kirche bei St. Vincent statt, aber Gäste waren nicht zugelassen. Wir haben online zugeguckt.

This was just a bit of what we have been doing lately. The girls brought home their costumes for their spring ballet recital, which will be an outdoor performance on a lake in June! Hopefully it will not rain.
Das war ein kleiner Ausschnitt aus unseren Aktivitäten. Die Mädchen haben ihre Kostüme für ihre Frühlingsballettvorführung mit nach Hause gebracht. Sie werden draußen ihre Stücke aim Juni an einem See aufführen. Hoffentlich regnet es dann nicht!
