Good-bye, Miriam!/Auf Wiedersehen, Miriam!

The fall semester is rapidly approaching, not just for us here, but also for Miriam.  She left today for New Hampshire.  She will finish her degree at Thomas More College of the Liberal Arts.  She has decided to go back to New Hampshire and not to Austria.  She missed all her friends from Magdalen College and hopes to see them more when she goes back to New Hampshire.  Many are still in New England.  We wish her all the best for her senior year!

Das Herbstsemester fängt bald an, nicht nur für uns hier, sondern auch für Miriam.  Heute ist sie nach New Hampshire aufgebrochen.  Sie verbringt ihr letztes Studienjahr am Thomas More College of the Liberal Arts.

Leo is saying good-bye.
Leo verabschiedet sich auch.

Here are a few pictures of the trip, which Miriam sent to me.  Last time we drove here was in May for Jonathan's Harvard graduation.

  1. I think it's wonderful she will be in New Hampshire, though I'm sure Austria was a special adventure . . also extra special to spend time with family there. New Hampshire is a beautiful state. My cousin lived there . . in Haverhill. I have fond memories of visiting her with my mom and dad when I was a teen and in my early 20's (it's a few hours northwest of Thomas More). My sister has visited Portsmouth with her husband several times. I think they have concerts there that they enjoy seeing. I hope Miriam likes her new school and her classes are fun, interesting and challenging :) xoxo

    1. Yes, Austria was special and she liked being there, but she also missed New Hampshire and her friends. She will miss her ITI friends now and also miss seeing my family, but you cannot have both worlds. Yes, New Hampshire is beautiful. Haverhill seems to be much more in the middle of the state. We have never driven there. It does look pretty (I looked online). Thomas More is the college we looked at with Jonathan. They gave him a full scholarship, but he then decided to go to St. Vincent (although I am still convinced Thomas More would have been a better fit for him). I really liked it when we visited, and now Miriam is there. It is similar to Magdalen College.

    1. It will be over before we (and she) will know it. She still does not quite know what to do afterwards.
