"Seneca Chief"

Today we drove to Buffalo to see a replica of the "Seneca Chief," the famous Erie Canal boat that was the first to travel the canal.  

Heute sind wir nach Buffalo gefahren, um das Eriekanalboot "Seneca Häuptling" zu sehen, das eine Gruppe von Freiwilligen nachgebaut hat.  Dieses Boot war das erste Boot, das den Kanal entlanggefahren ist.

They are still working on it because pretty soon it will go on its journey along the remnants of the canal to NYC!  You can see the stops on the way and also an detailed schedule here.  The Erie Canal is 200 years old this year.

Es wird noch an dem Boot gearbeitet, weil es bald den alten Kanal bis nach New York entlang fahren wird.  Dieses Jahr wird der Eriekanal 200 Jahre alt.

These ships can be visited.  We did that during a homeschool trip in 2014.

And then we stopped at this beautiful carousel.
