Klees Grab
You were not allowed to take pictures, so I can't give you any impressions from the inside. The outside architecture is imitating the hilly landscape around the Zentrum Paul Klee. Here is a good children's book on Klee. I have always liked Paul Klee very much. The current exhibition explores Klee's inspiration by the artists Daumier, Ensor, Feininger und Kubin.
Paul Klee for Children

Afterwards we took a look at the Bernese bears.

I hope they will retain most of it :)!
DeleteKlee - Wie wunderbar!!!
DeleteHello Eva, Bern is beautiful, and so are the bears! Were they sleeping? Playing? The girls remember me taking them to see the pandas in DC many years ago at the National Zoo. You must also be enjoying church! It's uplifting to worship in such lovely buildings. And how exciting for all of you to visit the Klee Zentrum. I should focus on his work with M and C. They would like it.
ReplyDeleteI went on my first trip cross country with my parents when I was six years old. They took me out of school early to drive across. We saw so many wonderful places: Carlsbad Caverns, Yellowstone, Death Valley, the Badlands . . a bottle house in a ghost town! It made a big impression on me. I like to say that they homeschooled me! I feel I learned more on those trips cross country with them than I ever learned in school. The experiences your children are having now are very special. Even for little Flora. Maybe especially for little Flora!!!
Enjoy! Enjoy! It's good you are gone for so long. Home will feel delightfully . . homey!
Yes, it was very hot and they were sleeping. The bear is on the Bernese flag and has played an important role for the city.
DeleteThe catholic church in Switzerland is very different from the catholic church elsewhere. You can definetely feel the influence of the Reformation. It felt as if the catholic church didn't know how to be catholic anymore. Very interesting to witness.
Klee is a great artist to talk about and to try to imitate. There are so many good books on him, many have been written for children. There must be some good paintings by him in NYC.
Impressive, what you remember from your cross-country trip. So I do hope that even Flora will remember something.
Stay cool!
