This is our last week before our homeschool and the new semester starts. We are trying to get ready for both. The three "big children" have sent pictures, and here are three, one from each child:
Flagstaff Lake: Miriam just returned to New Hampshire from a weekend in Maine with all freshmen and transfer students. Classes for her will start Thursday.
Flagstaff See: Miriam ist gerade von einem Wochenende in Maine wieder nach New Hampshire zurückgekommen. Alle Erstsemester and Collegewechsler haben an diesem Wochenende teilgenommen. Ihr Semester fängt am Donnerstag an.
No, this is not Leo, but Bean! Bean was very annoyed when Leo was with Charlotte. Now he has discovered that Leo is gone, and he is visiting Charlotte again.
Jonathan spent a day in Leesburg, which we all visited in 2021. His picture here is from Trinity House Café, a café we all went to as well.
We have cleaned out Flora's homeschool bookshelf.
Wir haben Floras Homeschoolbücherregal ausgeräumt.
Leo thought this was a wonderful hiding place.
Now most of her new books are here, ready for the new school year.
And my homeschool shelf is still a work in progress.
I have also been preparing my German 101 class, which will start Monday. We signed Flora up for ballet, a theatre class with Homeschool Connections, and she will probably participate in a local drama class again. I don't think she will have time to do art with Mrs. R. this year. But she will take violin lessons again.
Bean is cute and kind of looks like Leo. Leo is very funny chasing the water! I'm sure Cricket would love to do that, but we don't take him outside. Poor thing! He would just love to run around, but I feel sure he would manage to get lost. Flagstaff Lake looks nice. Do Miriam and the students sometimes swim there? Well, you, Flora and Miriam are ready for the new school year! How is Veronika doing? She's embarking on a new adventure and I hope it goes smoothly for her! Escondido seems like such a nice little town to live in!
ReplyDeleteHe does, but he is much bigger and heavier. Leo just loves this water game. This is Leo's second week outside on his own. We have decided to let him walk in our yard on his own. He is doing fine and is much happier. Before we always had him on a leash because he was not supposed to "roam" (according to the adoption rules). However, he does not roam. He is a timid cat and stays close to the house. I once read that you need to carry your cat around your house for a few times. That way, they remember where it is and do not get lost. We did that with Julius, and it worked.
DeleteFlagstaff Lake is too far (almost 5 hours) from the students. I am sure they don't go there often. I am not sure if they went swimming this time, but they were supposed to bring their bathing suits. I have not heard Miriam's report of her retreat. She has been too busy with things.
Veronika is trying to get ready herself. She chose a laptop today. She is also working for the same family Charlotte was working for. She has another month at home before leaving for CA (Peter will go with her).
Oh, that's so clever to carry them around the house. Good to know!
DeleteNice that Miriam is so busy! And Veronika too . . it's more relaxed to have her with your for another month I think, and good that Peter can go with her. I remember so well my family helping me to check into college.
It did work for Julius :). Yes, it helps Miriam to overcome any feelings of loneliness because she is in a new place again, with new people (although she does know some). We helped Jonathan, Charlotte, and Miriam move in, but for Veronika only one person can go along. It is too far and expensive for all to go.
DeleteLeo is also cute sitting in the cubbyhole.
ReplyDeleteHe likes to hide in "holes."
