I think people around there are very proud of it and they think it is the prettiest. I think they must have more money to do renovations. San Gabriel seems to be the poorest we have seen so far, but they still have monks who take care of it. I really like that. The new church in Capistrano is really amazing. It is the only basilica in Orange County. And so full! I was thinking the other day, that around here, the population has not changed very much since the arrival of the Spaniards: You have quite a few people that look like native Americans and Mexican people. There are few European looking people, but that is it. Of course, where we live are many Asians, but around the missions, time seems to have stood still. Ich habe das Foto sehr schnell gemacht, weil wir uns beeilen mußten, um noch alles zu sehen, bevor die Mission zumachte. Als ich es dann hochgeladen habe, habe ich mich nur noch daran erinnert, daß die Mönche Aprikosen angebaut haben und so gedacht, das muß ein Aprikosenbaum sein. Durch Deinen Hinweis weiß ich jetzt aber, daß es doch ein anderer Baum ist.
