She is making great progress with her English -- so far she has preferred German to English, even with her siblings. Too bad Pip can't continue. Flora's class is just seven weeks for 30 minutes on Thursday mornings. She thinks she is doing ballet now and told me she could also perform on stage any day now!

I am so glad your planning is going well! I think I have finally figured out what I want to do for high school for the main mandatory subjects. It's not an easy decision because you basically have to think over the next four years and also take college into account. But we are making good progress!

Have a sunny weekend! Did you know tha...Oh, the book shelf sounds scary! Did you know that in Germany most walls are so thick that you have to drill a hole before you can hang up a larger picture? Bookshelves and wardrobes are sometimes also fastened to the wall so they won't crash down onto you. So far the fan is working well, just not with the wall switch. Whenever we enter the bedroom in the dark now, we have to find our way to the bed, climb on top of it and turn the light on! To get it properly fixed we will need an electrician. We didn't have the greatest selection at the farm anymore, but we got some of all the veggies we were entitled to.

People don't say very much about different denominations around here, but the college where Peter teaches still doesn't allow Catholics as full time professors. However, they do have a Catholic campus ministry now. All in all people are very friendly in our village and personally, I haven't experienced any bias. However, I also don't walk around talking about religion. I think 40 years ago it was still different. This is just our village because it was founded by Wesleyans and the college is a Wesleyan college. All the other villages and towns around here have many different religious beliefs.

Yes, Miriam and Flora is correct. They have been listening to these geography songs (with Veronika) non-stop. They are pretty good with memorizing the countries. Easy learning!Evahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16831448349166435125noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-287923374500556606.post-58773626836130280482012-07-13T18:27:23.032-04:002012-07-13T18:27:23.032-04:00What a wonderful account of your days! What a treat to find some home school books at such a reasonable price, hope the yard sale trip is just as profitable.

How sweet that Flora will be taking her first movement class, we've had to stop Pip's dance classes for the time being as the teacher changed the time to a Wednesday teatime and they clashed with Benedict's Cub meeting and our teatime.

I too am in planning mode for the forthcoming year. This is the first time that I really have a handle on where we're going with homeschooling and so far we're managing to keep the costs within the budget.

Hope you have a lovely weekend.

San xxSandra Annhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16260644073051470011noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-287923374500556606.post-13235987050790685382012-07-12T23:49:40.502-04:002012-07-12T23:49:40.502-04:00Da ist ganz schön viel was los, Eva!! :) Für heute wünsche ich euch einen tollen und erfolgreichen Flohmarkt-Tag!Sybillehttp://www.buntmond.wordpress.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-287923374500556606.post-79818738074192053702012-07-12T22:54:09.348-04:002012-07-12T22:54:09.348-04:00oops! that's miriam sitting in the chair with ...oops! that's miriam sitting in the chair with flora . . !dorinalouisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14997381262511104320noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-287923374500556606.post-87434670516652324922012-07-12T22:37:57.210-04:002012-07-12T22:37:57.210-04:00hello eva!! what a fun post! i love your barn pict...hello eva!! what a fun post! i love your barn pictures and the one of veronika and flora singing together. i like to think of her playing with her friend in the pool and eating peaches and making paper flowers. and the fan problems are amusing. we always have some kind of odd problem with hanging things here. that's why i don't have many pictures up. a book shelf came down almost on greg's head one night. it's still down. well, i hope your fan stays up and turns on and off in a well behaved manner!

it was such a busy and fun day for you. i hope you picked out all the veggies you wanted even though everything was being put away. i think your book deals are exciting! i bet it inspires you to put those lesson plans together. we need inspiration like that.

it's sad about the unfriendliness to your religion. sometimes people who think they're open-minded are the most close-minded of all. i'm glad there are at least three families of your faith in the neighborhood. lately, i find myself saying, "this is the 21st century! people should know better than to behave in such a manner!" there are so many religions and non-religions in new york city. i love the mixture. keep the faith and i send you love and a big hug!dorinalouisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14997381262511104320noreply@blogger.com
