We approach it somewhat similarly. Out of time necessity, we end up doing unit blocks sometimes-- even when I would rather not. That's okay! Your daughter's astronomy drawing are exquisite! Beautiful work. Angiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03681580461069214368noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-287923374500556606.post-3480344161803679642013-09-19T00:16:08.470-04:002013-09-19T00:16:08.470-04:00They do English and math everyday and also most of...They do English and math everyday and also most of the foreign languages. All the other subjects I tend to rotate through our main lessons although I have had years where we did geography and science more traditionally, several times a week. In high school I still do main lessons, but that is more informal: reading and discussions in various subjects. Right now I'm doing a main lesson on muscles, bones, and digestion with Jonathan and Charlotte, but we are not doing any main lesson books so far with that. My lesson blocks are about 3-4 weeks long, each day about 90 minutes, less in the lower grades. So we do one block of astronomy, then do a block of history, and later come back to astronomy again. I also do some main lesson work for math and English in addition to the daily work in those subjects. Does that make sense?

I'm still working on a post about our schedule :). A question: do your children study math and other core subjects everyday in addition to their main lesson block? And how long are your lesson blocks? Thanks! She seems to be fascinated by it. I thought it was so true for many homeschooling families or many families with several young children.
