First Advent Picture Book/Erstes Adventsbilderbuch

Our first Advent picture book today was The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree with pictures by Barbara Cooney. We had never read that one and were pleased to start off Advent with such a moving story and gorgeous pictures.

Unser erstes Adventsbilderbuch heute hieß The Year of the Perfect Christmas Tree und spielt während des ersten Weltkrieges.

We went back to our regular schedule today with most school in the morning and some religion, French, Latin, and handwork in the afternoon and evening.  I taught my first class after the break again and most students were refreshed and ready to finish off this fall semester.  One student brought a guitar and we all sang "Es war eine Mutter, die hatte vier Kinder."  That was quite nice.  They also all need to give a 1-5 minute presentation in German.  Today we heard one on the Ring des Nibelungen by a music student.  It is amazing what these students can do after just three months of German!  It is probably due to the outstanding instructor!

My only picture of the day shows Flora and Jonathan folding laundry (or goofing off by placing things on one's head).

Now, wish me good luck, because I will take Jonathan and Miriam to the ballet store tomorrow to get some special slippers for The Nutcracker.  That means driving up to Buffalo, a 90 minute drive.

  2. The images from the book are just lovely. I am positive the outstanding tutor is the main contributory factor regarding the student's abilities!! I hope your drive to Buffalo went without a hitch :-)
