Nutcracker Opening Night/Nußknacker Premierenabend

All company members, including Jonathan, received a rose from their teacher for opening night.

It was beautiful!  Every seat was taken and they had to turn many people away because there were no seats left!  I took a few pictures backstage (Peter's favorite new word these days) before the ballet began and a few after the ballet.

Ah, there you are.
Ach da bist du!

After the performance: There was a reception line where you could shake hands with the main dancers.  (Charlotte is sitting down because I took the photo when the reception was basically over.)  Jonathan's sword split while he "killed" the mouse king.  So before coming home we ran by Kmart to buy some wood glue :).

Too late to post the other photos and videos I took yesterday during dress rehearsal.  Tomorrow we will have a 1:00 p.m. performance.

    1. No bad traffic, just some really slow cars. We were only ten minutes late, not too bad we thought.

    2. Happy Lucia Day also. We did not celebrate because there was no time today. So sad.

    3. Yes, we always have a difficult time getting a celebration together for Santa Lucia because of Nutcracker. We usually celebrate a day or two later. We've also never done the early morning ritual which I think would have been nice to establish :)

    4. We have only done the early morning celebration. I hope we can still do it. How did your buns turn out? I really have to make a to-do-list tomorrow. I did make one with what gift to give to whom today. That was a good start I thought. The girls really want to do Lucia still.

    5. That was a good start!! I did that also!!! Now I just must follow up with wrapping, etc!!

The buns were delicious. I always put saffron in. I love saffron. I hope you find a morning for your Santa Lucia celebration. Will it be Charlotte again? Or Miriam? How do you decide?

    6. We made the first batch of presents today! We will not be able to mail them on time, but they will be ready to go out hopefully on Tuesday.

I also use the saffron, without it they would be not right. Looks like St. Lucia is not going to happen anymore. We always choose the oldest daughter. We tell Miriam she ill get her turn when Charlotte leaves for college.

    1. Thanks so much, Barbara. There are many good ballets on CD. Would you like me to ask Jonathan which ones he recommends? He has watched quite a few. Happy Saint Lucia Day and thanks so much for your e-card greetings.
