Edwardian Advent Calendar/Adventskalender aus der Zeit Königs Eduard VII

San has given us an Edwardian Advent Calendar, and it is truly lovely and very British.  Here you can take a glimpse yourself.

San hat uns einen Adventskalender aus dem Zeitalter Eduards VII geschenkt.  Unten kann man ein wenig darein schauen, sehr hübsch und sehr britisch.

Our Advent books this year are new books, but old favorites, i.e. Christmas Stories Together and Stories for the Festivals of the Year.  We also like to read Christmas picture books.  A new one to our collection is The Christmas Wish.

And then there is time to light the Advent wreath and sing.  Und es gibt auch noch Zeit die Kerzen am Adventskranz anzuzünden und zu singen.

  1. Hello Eva, Happy third Sunday of Advent. Your books are lovely. We've finally been able to sit and read and sing carols at dinner. Morgana is a big movie fanatic these days also. We've watched A Christmas Story and Eloise at Christmas time . . other movies get mentioned but I've nixed non-holiday related fare for now :) We finally have some quiet time and made a batch of hot chocolate and prepared our Lussekats for baking in the morning. I hope all is going well with your German class and that you've been able to stay warm! I know it's been cold by you.

    2. I was wondering what you meant :). Do you buy those movies or rent them? Five or six more oral exams and one final, then I just have to grade everything!

  2. And I think you have much more snow than we do!

    1. We do, at least when looking at your pictures. This morning, on our way to church, I almost ran into an other car because the roads weren't plowed well and our car wouldn't break!

    2. Oh, Eva. That must have been so scary. I'm glad you are all okay. It's better here now, but it had been extremely icy. It was difficult walking on the sidewalks and crossing the streets. I always worry that the girls will slip and a car won't see them. It took me awhile to get used to the cold, and now I think it's supposed to get warm again this weekend. I just have to get used to the fluctuations . .

    3. We were lucky that nobody had run into the truck. They even had the NYS spill control there. I don't know what the truck was carrying. I guess in a city with so many cars, the danger of not being seen is even bigger. All my children wear reflectors in the winter in the dark. My parents sent them from Germany. You can clip them onto your clothing.

Yes, it is warmer here too, lots of rain and flooding is in the forecast.

  3. Das sind schöne Traditionen und Bücher. Ich schätze mich auch glücklich jedes Jahr von einer Bekannten eine Jacquie Lawson Weihnachtskarte zu kriegen, ich finde die so schön!
