    1. Yes, it was very peaceful, but just a bit early :).

  2. Eva,

I can't believe the difference between the photos of your last post and this one. Your neighbours' garden was full of flowers and looked so alive and colourful, and now it must be covered in snow. Do you normally have so much snow early in the season? I wonder if Julius likes the snow.

    1. Yes, this was a shock to all of us, we covered our blooming rose with cloth sacks and it survived the snow. This is very early, but the forecast has been talking about a severe winter. I guess it has started . . .

No, he does not like the snow, but he needs to go outside every morning after a night inside. He comes back quickly.

  3. OH MY GOODNESS! had they predicted it? wow. winter came so fast. faster than last year? i'm wondering if we will have a storm october 29th . . that's when hurricane sandy hit, and the year before we had a snowfall exactly like the one you have pictures of now. it was very bad because the trees still had green leaves. had your trees lost most of their leaves? it's beautiful . . maybe a little disconcerting? it looks very wet! I hope the children had fun and you made hot chocolate! or hot cider :)

(i just read your "october memories" post . . it was predicted and there were still many leaves on your trees . . i love all your "memory" pics. flora and julius are too precious, and charlotte looks the quintessential ballerina sewing on her pointe shoes. i'm glad the pictures are still helpful. can you believe our girls are turning 14? i love veronika's house and the girls' spider web. it's good they have the time to be so creative and have fun. that's what i love about homeschooling. congrats on getting your work in on time! and your cold is better . . i hope you can have a few cozy at home days.

    1. Yes, they had, the day before they had snow in Ohio (Peter's sister lives there). We knew it was coming and covered our blooming rose: It survived!! We do still have trees with leaves on, but not many. The linden tree still has some leaves. It was beautiful, but too early. My parents are having summer temperatures and the birds are thinking about building nests. That is also unusual. We were out of cocoa, no hot chocolate. We normally buy the Ghirardelli kind, but nobody carries it anymore around here.

It is hard to think that Charlotte and Chanda will be in high school soon. Did you ever notice? Two Cs :).

Thanks for all your nice comments. I also thought that Julius and Flora were so sweet! The spiderweb was somewhat in the way because it blocked the stairs, but it was a great idea. Now we have a castle in the living-room with swings for all the dolls.

  5. Ooohhh.... Already snow! Yesterday I took a walk with some of my children. It was very warm, blue sky and magnificent autumn colors all around.

    1. My parents are also talking about summer temperatures, the birds are building nests. I think winter as definitely come here. Too bad, then it stays cold a long time.

Also weiterhin gehofft und gesucht.

    1. This is crazy, it is quite cold and unfriendly outside. When Charlotte was born 14 years ago we needed air-conditioning!
