Charlotte's finished her Pythagorean circle, and has been studying hexameter. We are practicing it right now with the German poem "Odysseus" by Schiller and also with Longfellow's "Evangeline," whose birthday we remembered today.  You can listen to an English translation of the Iliad in hexameter below:

Jonathan is in the middle of the Renaissance. We watched a pretty good video called Power of the Past and have been learning about the Renaissance from the book The World Awakes.  This is out of print, but worth while looking for!  Our specific topic right now is art.  We have been looking at Leonardo da Vinci's live through the eyes of Vasari.  Leonardo's horse must have an impressive project: a horse that had one front feet in the air!  Jean Fritz wrote a wonderful picture book about the story behind the horse.

  1. Beautiful diligent work as always.

I'm up and downstairs but still very nauseous and weak. I had a look at your papal link thank you for sharing.

    1. Thanks, San! I do so hope that the nausea will subside. Have you signed up for a cardinal? Flora just told me again, we need to pray for each of ours.

  4. As always, you do a wonderful, wonderful job weaving books and main lessons and poems and videos all together, Eva :) It's a joy filled day at your house.

I'm glad the cream came! I hope it helps. Julius is very sweet. Please tell the girls that their main lesson books look beautiful!

    1. Oh, now you make me blush :). It's not always perfect here, but I do the best I can, even when Flora is very whiny (she is not approaching puberty, is she?). I guess I have to come up with a more formal program for her, she feels a bit left out.

    1. Hello Miri, welcome here! Now I'm curious: What is your second language? So nice you stopped by.

      Warmly,

  6. I have to tell you...we adopted a cat about seven months ago who is your cat's double! He was the niciest cat at the SPCA, and seemed good for my active daughter. He's gotten huge, not fat, just big! He was four months old when we got him. Guess what his name is? Julius! :) I guess my daughter remembered me showing her your cat because she picked the name. Now we have two kitties. My old cat puts up with him, but can be cranky toward him at times.

    1. This is so funny!! Welcome, Julius! Maybe he is a distant relative of ours. Ours came from a farm in the area. I think he was about the same age when we got him, so cute, now he is a big and ferocious cat. He gets too many birds! Did I ever tell you that Julius' full name is Julius Lars Virgil, at least I think that's what it is, I have to double check with Jonathan tomorrow morning! How nice for Olivia to have her own cat.
