Architecture/Architektur

I like to read/look at art books on Saturday evenings with our children.  Right now we are enjoying 13 Buildings Children Should Know.  Actually, this is a German book, but has been translated into English.

Samstagabends schaue ich mir gerne Kunstbücher mit unseren Kindern an.  Im Moment lesen wir das deutsche Buch 13 Bauwerke, die du kennen solltest in englischer Übersetzung.

p.s. An "unknown" friend send this video to Flora.  Now everybody is humming or singing it.

    1. It's a whole series, Dorina. Our library has only one book, though. They are pretty well done.

  4. Hello Eva,

I hope that you do not mind that I put this in your comments section but it took me so long to get you the answer that I figure you have stopped checking over at my blog. I talked to my mother in law today. (She is in Florida) She told me that her family was from Altersbach and then Nuremberg.

My husband has been to Germany only for one brief trip. He was in the area of Baden Baden, Cologne and Karlsruhe. He spent some time on the Rhine river too.

We would very much like to take another trip to Germany and see more, including the Bavarian region but we must finish paying our children's college tuition and then one day maybe we can afford to go! That is the main stumbling block for us. Tickets and lodging are so expensive.

I agree with you that Austria is a beautiful country. I have only seen a small section in the Innsbruck area but I loved it. I am happy that my son will be spending more time there and I wish he would follow his friend's suggestion and live there for awhile.

It has been nice to correspond with you Eva! Thank you for your question and for visiting my blog. Have a wonderful Sunday.

    1. No, I hadn't really stopped checking (I thought I had subscribed to the comments by email) :). Thanks for the reply! Is that Altersbach in former East Germany? Yes, going to Germany is so expensive! That's why we haven't been back for more than five years! Last time we went, my parents payed most of the expenses.

    2. Hi Eva,

I did not check to see if you subscribed to comments, sorry about that. Yes Altersbach would be in East Germany. My Mother in laws mother and her family lived there before moving to Nuremberg. In Nuremberg she met and married my mother in laws father and then they had two children my mother in law and her sister. Sadly she died when my mother in law was 3 so my husband never knew her but he did no his other 3 grandparents.

    3. Oh, I don't even know if the blog owner can see who subscribes or who doesn't -- at least with Blogger I don't think you can. I have never been to what used to be East Germany, I just used to drive through it to get to Berlin. There is much to discover! I would love to see it one day. Sad that your husband could never meet his grandmother. Thanks again for the reply, though. So nice to learn about your family.
