Snow, and a Lot!/Schnee, und zwar eine ganze Menge!

We did have snow for Christmas, but we have gotten much more in the last two days, more than a foot. Time to go outside and enjoy the winter wonderland.

Wir hatten schon Weihnachten Schnee, aber innerhalb der letzten vierundzwanzig Stunden haben wir eine ganze Menge dazu bekommen. Da muß man doch einfach rauslaufen und die Pracht genießen.

    1. How much snow do you normally get at the other end of this country?

  3. How lucky to have snow! We have grey and rain and this end.I know that snow can sometimes be an inconvenience but at least the whiteness reflects the light, far better than grey anyday.

Your Christmas celebrations sounded just right. I don't know if it was a combination of having a birthday two days before but Pip has been unsettled and Benedict always finds Christmas "Difficult." I'm always careful about not buying too much, but other folks bring gifts and it can be overwhelming. We are slowly opening presents and writing thank you's a few each day.

    Love to you

    1. Yes, Christmas without snow is somehow sad. My parents are also reporting warm temperatures, must be a warm European winter.

Thanks for your kind words about Christmas. I know too well that too many presents and too much celebrating can be overwhelming for young children. Our children can name three wishes for Christmas and normally get one from us. Our relatives don't give too much either, which makes for just the right number of gifts. I think it's great you are opening your presents slowly. We have also started on the thank-you notes.

I feel for Pip, Flora is also kind of cranky these days. Not enough normal routine for her, I think.

  6. Wasn't he cute? He didn't know what to make of all the snow. It really confused him. Right now he is dealing with ear mites, no fun!
